This is correct but also all the really deranged stuff being thrown at Schumer only makes it harder to dislodge him because it's so transparently bad faith. Turns out constantly lying just makes people distrust you!
In the uncomfortable position of thinking most criticisms of Schumer are unfair but he still has to go because I think he’d be a poor opposition leader if we invade Iran and indeed his opposition to JCPOA should have kept him from the job to begin with.

The “mania for [historical] parallels” distorted real history by separating the individual “from the setting in which he was placed, and the circumstances under which he acted.” The specificities of times and situations “admit of no analogy.”

it is difficult to do, but every now and again, people overestimate how stupid the general public is.
have never seen popular public opinion shift so fast about a surveillance product than the fallout from ring's super bowl "search party" ad. they'll teach this in advertising courses one day. chef's kiss baby www.404media.co/with-ring-am...
With Ring, American Consumers Built a Surveillance Dragnet
Ring's 'Search Party' is dystopian surveillance accelerationism.

Again, you can feel your big feelings about Chuck Schumer but I think as an adult citizen it actually is your responsibility to know basic facts about the American legislature

Schumer has been more obstructionist than McConnell was in the minority; that isn’t a value judgement, it’s a fact

“fuck Americans property rights”
Stephen Miller 🤝 Lord North
who knows what happens politically, but i do not think choosing to die on the “no, we refuse to get warrants for private property” hill is a good tactical or political position for stephen miller to pick.
‘Complete nonstarter’: Administration allies say judicial warrants a red line for White House in DHS funding talks as shutdown looms
The seeming stalemate sets up a clash between the Trump administration and Democrats ahead of a Friday night deadline.

Honestly hilarious that there's a shitty AI and a secret good AI and if you're too lazy to find the latter, Google deems you not worthy of it.
Like, Gemini itself, when prompted on the AI tab, doesn't shy from saying "no".

This is more the meta-model that builds the search results page being gunshy on this topic.

Which will be hard for non-coffee drinkers due to the mounting evidence of the health benefits of coffee.

Medicore prompts will generally lead to mediocre results, and a lot of mediocre people using AI will lead to a lot of unremarkable output.

But you can push AI into brilliant and strange places in the vector space that average people wouldn't even consider.

Whenever I see "natural" in reference to human health, I reach for my gun.

Suffering from infectious disease is "natural." Being parasitized by fly larvae is "natural." Dying of malnutrition is "natural."

Every human life saved by science is a middle finger in the face of a cruel, heartless world.
The golden rice situation makes me *SO* sad.

It's estimated a THIRD of people worldwide are Vitamin A deficient, which can cause permanent damage to the eyes — in many cases full-on blindness.

We created a perfect solution to this problem, but oh no, it's "unnatural"
Same anti-science people who'd rather see people starve, than endorse GMOs. Because, hurr durr, Capitalism bad, science bad, therefore, hurr durr, golden rice bad and an unnatural abomination!

Would like to pass a very specific law, to force the University Press of Virginia to make all books published in 1965 public domain or let me pay them for an e-book.

In the meantime, I'll just set a timer for 2061 and do it myself.

People seem to forget that the reason the industrial revolution worked is that, however bad factories were, it was way way way better than subsistence farming

Even if we ended meat-farming, traditional methods would not be able to feed our current population even if we transitioned all of our arable land to agriculture. Calling to end modern agriculture is essentially asking to kill the global poor.

I have immense respect for indigenous cultures. However, it is deeply impractical to feed 8+ billion people sustainably and reliably without high-tech industrial agriculture.

Ultimately, this is just reactionary, conservative pastoralism wrapped in leftist framing.

Trump-tier CCP diplo fail.

I would disagree that “control of the house comes down to a handful of close races” is something that is becoming more likely.
