the fallacy that negative cynicism is an innately more "intellectual" critical stance blinds us from the fact that this, too, is shilling
do you guys ever think this might be a bit much

I'm a green card holder.

Although this has had a chilling effect on my speech, I'm also of the opinion that if they really want to, they'll find a reason to anyway.

Sure, no reason to make it *easier*, but I'd already been vocal from the beginning if not before.
keep in mind that people on Visas in the US can have visa renewal, green card approval, or citizenship approval all denied by USCIS for speaking out and being critical of the government at all. Doing so is brave and carries no small personal risk.

Immigrants are under incredible coercive forces.
Asked after practice about the ongoing horrors in Minneapolis, Victor Wembanyama answered at first cautiously, then forcefully and always eloquently.

TOM HOMAN: “We’re going to create a database where those people that are arrested for interference, impeding and assault, we’re going to make them famous. We’re going to put their face on TV. We’re going to let their employers, in their neighborhoods, in their schools, know who these people are.”

I can't put into words the feeling of watching our government, a hive of evil antisocial filth, the absolute worst humanity has to offer, colliding with the best. Ordinary people trying to help each other, risking everything to stand up for what's plainly, unambiguously fair and right. It's unreal

Gotcha—let’s dig into that step by step.

1. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵, because I turned you into an amorphous lump of flesh. You’re not just immobile—you’re immortal, and you feel only anguish.

2. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺. That makes total sense—it’s a natural human impulse, and you’ve been through a lot.
