I'm a county-level prosecutor. It's spectacularly difficult to sway ZERO grand jurors to your position. I'm not typically one to dunk on fellow attorneys, but this is some "sobbing toddler watches their balloon drift into the clouds" level of legal skill. I'm absolutely fascinated by this.

I know men think they can fight ridiculously powerful animals all the time, but could you (personally) beat an ent if you had a chainsaw?

When I was a child, I had a Creepy Crawler Thing Maker, that allowed me to make weird little creatures on demand. I've been chasing that high for 30 years, but the 3D printer I recently acquired scratches a similar itch. Been haphazardly painting some little monster dudes, much to my own delight.

My favorite opening credits come from the 1931 Frankenstein because they're so intent on creating a mystery around the monster that they credit him with "?" as if to say "Ooooh, who could it be? We don't knooowwwww... Is it even an actor?? Oooooh"

Only 10 cases of Guinea worm disease were recorded *globally* last year.

It may become the second human disease we eradicate, after smallpox.

Gotcha—let’s dig into that step by step.

1. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵, because I turned you into an amorphous lump of flesh. You’re not just immobile—you’re immortal, and you feel only anguish.

2. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺. That makes total sense—it’s a natural human impulse, and you’ve been through a lot.

A few months ago I was curious to know how much Anna's Archive was charging AI developers for access to their massive library of pirated works for training - so I emailed them saying I was interested in buying access.

Here is their reply.

the funniest part of this book is how the kingdom is just called “Navarre”. What’s it called in the Spanish translation, i wonder? somewhere out there there’s a Spanish fantasy novel set in the distant magical realm of, like, “Connecticut”

every scene in Fourth Wing is like:

“‘This blows chunks,’ says McKenzie, sheathing her bloodstained sword.
‘Your mom blows chunks,’ says the largest man i have ever seen, narrowly edging out the previous record-holder from a chapter ago. It’s Connor Plantagenet! I seethe with hatred and arousal.”
