HAPPENING NOW: 100s of striking Starbucks workers and community allies are gathering in front of Starbucks's headquarters in Seattle.

If the company continues to ignore our calls for fair contracts and resolving unfair labor practices, we'll keep getting louder! #NoContractNoCoffee

The cost of additional delay and reduced resiliency in the light rail system were cited as reasons to set aside the idea of dropping Ballard Link's planned tunnel under Downtown. But the discussion is likely to set up a broader debate around the tunnel.

after what biden did with space force, yeah my hopes aren't high.
There's a series of things (like the ballroom, Gulf of America) that we're going to have to *undo* the moment this guy is out of office.
And yet I can already hear future Democrat presidents saying "I'm focused on the people's work, not the knucklehead stuff" and just leave this man's shit up.
The president's name was added to the sign outside the performing arts center.

just about any other president in history reschedules weed down to III, and you'd have smoking parties in the streets, free hash handed out on street corners, cheech marin and tommy chong paraded around on a massive palanquin that people keep gently setting down and wandering off from,

So, Bolts was just notified of how much costs will increase for our organization to keep our same health-care insurance options starting in January: roughly +12%!

A reminder: It's our end-of-year fundraising drive!

the humiliating state of SFF awards rn is really something else

what is the point of an awards committee if this is the kind of mealy mouthed bullshit AI policy ( or ANY policy ) you put out. also, im sorry but - did the small press submission nightmare just go away or are we pretending it did?
Christ this is dark

an organization which exists to support writers is like “we don’t want to take a side and make anyone mad, so if the plagiarism machine helped write your book it’s up to OTHER PEOPLE, NOT US, OUR HANDS ARE CLEAN, to decide if that should disqualify you from winning an award”

2. City the Animation. The most delightful show I saw this year. Animation that looks simple but is subtle and complex. It's impossible not to smile at this show that explores contemporary living through gentle humour. This is a new entry in my shows I watch for an immediate pick-me-up.

I somehow missed that Dan Savage was on Bluesky now. If you missed the memo, consider this your reminder that Dan Savage is a racist transphobe who has allied himself with Jesse Singal (!) and written racist screeds attacking Black people while dismissing the racism of white gays.
