Media coverage of Gaza has plummeted. So today on @thenation.com, we're doing something pretty special: we're only running pieces by people in and from Gaza.

We're calling it "A Day for Gaza." You can find links to all of the incredible pieces here. Please read! www.thenation.com/article/worl...
A Day for Gaza
Today, The Nation is turning over its website exclusively to stories from Gaza and its people. This is why.

And I don’t think it will be out of real policy or politics disagreements, but a rejection of one form of affective politics for a different one. That is, a concern that their emotions are not being tended in the way they want but the feelings of others are.
As momentum gathers behind progressives and leftists in opposition to fascism we will see rhetorical shift on the center-left that actually Minnesota organizers were probably not that important and actually Mamdani didn't promise much and won’t do much. I’m sure other examples.

yeah seeing the "Minneapolis took off because the so-called 'activists' got out of the way and let normal people in" takes is really frustrating. that's not at all an accurate look at what's happening in Mpls or anywhere else. All these movements rely on cores of people who have experience.
Lots of regular degular, never-done-an-activism folks have been activated in recent months and are working alongside a bunch of seasoned, die-hard, been-tired-for-ten-years-or-more organizers, and you don't know all of those stories bc most people are moving with a bit of discretion in these times.

Nothing has changed and these masked, armed federal paramilitaries are just as aggressive and lawless as ever.
This morning, federal agents staged at the Powderhorn Park Recreation Center lot and began to throw chemical irritants at observers. They also kidnapped an observer. Our parks are meant for our children, youth, and neighbors. They should never be militarized zones meant to separate families. 1/

If you are in NYC reminder that alternate side parking is back tomorrow. If you see cars in your neighborhood that don’t move, you should use one of these to check and make sure nobody is trapped.

Steven Pinker wrote a legal analysis of a *child sex crimes law* as a favor to Epstein and then had the gall to say he had no idea what the guy was accused of.

All of the “hey what’s the big deal here” pageantry is insulting
David Brooks wrote an entire column about offensive it was to say "Epstien Class" without volunteering that he was at a conference with Epstien.

It’s kind of crazy how much “Marxist professor in the ‘90s” turns out to be the frame from which all past and future history unfolds to reveal itself. I honestly wouldn’t have called that one.

We're told that power wealth & fame are the ultimate aphrodisiacs. But the Epstein files show they also stunt emotional maturity and infantilize the men who possess them.

And it's no coincidence these men took to victimizing girls at a time when women became their co-equals in other spheres.
It is very reminiscent of locker rooms, trading floors, & fraternities I have seen, where regardless of their wealth or talent, men defer to the guy they perceive as having the greatest capacity for seduction. Being able to manipulate women is regarded as the highest form of intelligence.

It sure does strain credulity, huh?
The thing that shocks me most is that all of this incriminating stuff was sitting at the DOJ for 4 years and Biden & Garland were not cynical or ruthless enough to use it against Trump & Musk in the run up to 2024.

If only they were the evil ‘weaponizers of government’ that MAGA claimed they were!

The way Biden and his party treated Omar and Rashida Tlaib was reprehensible. Openly contemptuous and racist.
Holy shit. The Biden DOJ investigated Ilhan Omar???

If anyone in NYC doesn’t know: you can break the windshield wipers off of parked cars in the snow to make arms for a snow man, or use them to play whiffle ball, or just for fun. They snap into pieces really easily in the cold And it’s not illegal as long as the car is parked at the curb.

This is an insane list from an intellectual history point of view. A group of “heterodox” thinkers with respect to the old intellectual institutions. But only in so much as they represent the assault of the fascist state on the independence of those same old intellectual institutions.
The new CBS contributors:

Elliot Ackerman, Peter Attia, Masih Alinejad, Arthur Brooks, Caroline Chambers, Clare de Boer, Niall Ferguson, Roland Fryer Jr., Andrew Huberman, Coleman Hughes, Mark Hyman, Janna Levin, Casey Lewis, HR McMaster, Patrick McGee, Reihan Salam, Lauren Sherman, Derek Thompson
