A thing I've been mulling over for a while:
- if you have a favourite airport in your country you are flying too much.
- if you can rate airports all over your continent you are flying way too much
- if you can rate airports all over the world you are flying way WAY too much
Climate change is real

UK rejected atrocity prevention plans for Sudan despite warning of possible genocide
Exclusive: British government adopted ‘least ambitious’ option months before RSF’s massacres in El Fasher
Britain rejected atrocity prevention plans for Sudan despite intelligence warnings that the city of El Fasher would fall amid a wave of ethnic cleansing and possible genocide, according to a report seen by the Guardian.
Government officials turned down the plans six months into the 18-month siege of El Fasher in favour of the “least ambitious” option of four presented. Continue reading...

I paid for my Covid vaccination, but luckily I can afford it. It really doesn't make long term financial sense not to vaccinate far more widely IF you include lost work days, lost schooling Long Covid and all the other sequelae. Plus it traps the vulnerable, like my BF with MS, in their homes.
I've never really understood the logic of "targeted vaccination".
Of course, money is a huge issue and we seek to get the most out of every £ spent.
Of course COVID and flu waves would be far worse without it.
But, what doesn't sit well for me is the following...

Running an economy is not the same as household budgeting, and anyone who implies it is, is either lying or has no idea what they're doing.
Reform's fiscal rules still a work in progress, it seems. Richard Tice asked at Bloomberg to provide a definition tonight: "We’ve got to keep it simple folks: we must not go bust. We’ve got to starting earning more than we’re spending…. Let’s keep it simple. Basic housekeeping.”

I should note that price is for novella/novel critiques. I seldom just do evals on shorter work. (I'll edit shorter, but if you're going to pay for shorter fiction evaluations I feel like it should involve direct editing.)
Being stuck short $250 of Nov.'s rent, and my week's grace period to get that in ending tomorrow, I'm temporarily bringing back the old price for manuscript critiques as an emergency: $250.
Anyone need one? Or have other editing work to pass along? I'm a bit up against it.

I love that Zohran did not praise Cuomo in his speech. You absolutely do not have to say nice things about bad people. We should normalize that in “polite” politics: Praising bad people is not actually “civility.”
