The memorial for the Edmund Fitzgerald crew at Split Rock Lighthouse was a wonderful tribute. I have to admit, seeing family members present to ring the memorial bell was incredibly emotional. And seeing Split Rock lit up was awe-inspiring.

It is incredible — the blind spots you develop when you’ve never, ever been poor.
Trump claims that food stamps "puts the country in jeopardy. People that are able-bodied can do a job, they leave their job because they figure they can pick this up, it's easier."

One key thing that we all should be remembering right now is that disordered personalities DO NOT CHANGE.
Trump will not change. Fetterman will not change. There is no way to convince or mollify Stephen Miller.
The only option is to organize to remove disordered people from power forever.

SS Edmund Fitzgerald was built on sinking land
Sagging in the middle could trace back to her keel being laid down and (poorly) welded together on top of sinking marsh land. They had to keep shimming it up with whatever scrap they could find to keep her level. youtu.be/EiNqRO2o360?...

Let’s say this is true: and it may well reflect Senate Dems thinking. So what? Voters already know that MAGA wants them poor and sick? Would sacrificing millions of Americans to score a worthless political point be a good deal? No, it would not.
This was a cave with dire consequences.

We should not assume that there will be free and fair elections in 2026. At this point we should assume that the MAGA side will have no *federal* resistance to regime consolidation and dictatorship.
This is why I have been saying we are in a cold civil war right now.

If I had to guess: the House never reconvenes. The whole purpose of last night's "deal" was to make the Democrats complicit in everything that has done on. MAGA has no intention of saving the ACA, and reopening the House would cause a vote on the Epstein documents.

At this point, I fully expect the ACA extension vote to fail. MAGA will absolutely shank Schumer and the Surrender Caucus, take away healthcare for millions of Americans, and demonstrate that the Democrats are utterly worthless.

Donald Trump participated in the crime these people are being "pardoned" for. It's no different than if he'd been called for jury duty on the day his own trial began: it's a self-evident violation of due process and the next Dem AG needs to make clear on day one that they won't honor it.
