This is your annual reminder that dilithium crystals don’t power a warp drive in Star Trek!

They regulate the massive energy released by a matter-antimatter reaction, created using deuterium harvested during travel.

Kyber crystals, in the other hand…

Too many fail to see the difference between “I personally don’t like that, I never needed that, or I never got that” and “no one else can have anything I don’t like, need, or that I never had.”

I love Pre-Socratic philosophy for how explosively imaginative the ideas were before formalized rules.

Most histories read like, “He was known as the laughing philosopher. He believed the first men were birthed from fish, souls were made of fire and stored in soybeans, and he coined the word atom.”

RIP to genius architect Frank Gehry.

I always think of him when I pass the KFC in Koreatown designed by his protégé.

For fans of @realgdt.bsky.social’s TROLLHUNTERS…

I found an annoted copy of Henrik Ibsen’s PEER GYNT from when the writers room was breaking Jim’s arc, wrestling between duties of the human and troll world.

Some interesting bits we mined for inspiration, especially the final season! (1/3)

“Man was begot by mutual assistance, anger from mutual destruction.

One seeks to help, the other seeks to harm. Human life rests upon kindness and concord bound together not by terror, but by love reciprocated.”

Thrilled to finally have the Fanhome replica of the USS Voyager-A from #StarTrekProdigy on my shelf.

Ben Hibon did an incredible job designing it — with a tiny bit of input from me.

As a lifelong Trek fan, it was such an honor and a privilege to be part of bringing VOY’s successor to the screen.

I am honored that our show, Star Trek: Prodigy, is nominated for @theemmys.tv for both Outstanding Writing and Outstanding Multiple Role Voice Performer. I love Janeway and portraying her is a delight, in all her forms.

Whenever someone mocks “science for science’s sake”, I point them to discoveries like this one — which literally emerged from looking at common dirt.

Seeking knowledge is a process and an ethos.

The wider our horizons, the more we can see.

Not going to lie. Started watching STAR TREK: PRODIGY and I have found it fun and fairly adorable. I'm particularly fond of Murf, who gives me such an agreeable case of the awwws that it made me relieved to know that my inner six-year-old was still kicking around. But how many my age watch watch? 🤣🤣
