The memorial for the Edmund Fitzgerald crew at Split Rock Lighthouse was a wonderful tribute. I have to admit, seeing family members present to ring the memorial bell was incredibly emotional. And seeing Split Rock lit up was awe-inspiring.

50 years ago today the Edmund Fitzgerald set sail for the final time, traveling with its 29 crew from Superior, Wisconsin to legend and memory.

Maybe this is the one relatable thing about Vought. Honestly, given the choice between sticking one’s member in a plastic-faced Mar-a-Lago harpy or this sea lamprey below I would be on Team Lamprey.

Now that the government is officially shut down, it is your best time to try and mail that mongoose without obtaining federal charges...

Written and pictoral instructions for illegally mailing a mongoose: Figure 1-18 - Mailing a Mongoose. 1. Cut Some Holes in a Box Air holes should always be cut before placing a mongoose into a box. This can help prevent ruining a perfectly good mongoose. CAUTION: Mongooses are not known for their pleasant dispositions. Offenders attempting to put a mongoose in a box should expect a fight. 2. Put Your Mongoose in That Box 3. Make the Post Office Mail That Box At roughly 10 lbs., the average mongoose may be fairly expensive to mail. NOTE: Mongooses are known to emit a pronounced offensive odor due to secretions from their anal glands. The air holes will only increase the risk of a sharp-nosed postal worker discovering the contraband mongoose shipment. (This is from the book "How to be a Federal Criminal.")

This is interesting as a historical artifact of the Hong Kong protests in 2019. Certainly the idea of carrying laser pointers is probably a very bad idea, but much of this was beneficial for those protests. Good thing we do not live in an autocratic regime like Hong Kongers!
