as one sojourning in a foreign land, I feel like Lincoln remembered me, personally

yes, Abe, let us see the nation restored to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquility, and Union
Lincoln’s original proclamation of Thanksgiving Day from 1863 doesn’t really go into colonist-native relations, but it does recommend “humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience.” www.battlefields.org/learn/primar...

These people do not know what it means to serve the United States

They serve themselves, they serve Trump, they have no sense of what it is to serve the nation and its interests.

Once upon a time, I and all my friends were nuts for the Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander.

The copies we read had these amazing covers, and we loved the pictures but never gave a thought to the artist.

Turns out it's Jean-Léon Huens!

Now that I know, I can live happily ever after.
I have said before and will say again that it is such a loss that we no longer get covers of this caliber for fantasy books.

This art is by Jean-Léon Huens. These covers are for the Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander. They lit my imagination on fire as a kid.

“Their foolish screed sows doubt and confusion.”

Whiskey Pete out here trying to sound like an oracular prophet out of a fantasy novel.
Two things about this Hegseth statement:

I think it’s very interesting that he used his personal account and not his “secretary of war” account.

But also I don’t understand the thing about not being retired. You can leave the service and not be retired?

If I’m understanding this correctly, X is owned by a white nationalist who pays poor people of color in developing countries to pretend to be working class white Americans to scare other white Americans into being afraid poor people of color from developing countries are going to ruin America?

Ellis repeatedly accuses multiple CBP and ICE officials of lying (under oath) and says their "widespread misrepresentations call into question everything" they "say they are doing in their characterization of what is happening." She broadly discredits their testimony as objectively false.
U.S. District Judge Sara Ellis just handed down the written opinion version of her preliminary injunction order, regarding use of force by federal agents in Chicago.

It's the one already put on hold by the 7th Circuit.

It's 233 pages.

The team prosecuted foreign officials for corruption, recovering hundreds of millions of dollars.
Trump has long disparaged the FCPA, and he paused its enforcement.

I'm honestly surprised Trump hasn't spoken about Sheikh Hasina.

He loves violent suppression of protests, extrajudicial killings, creeping authoritarianism, and rushing to condemn legal proceedings against heads of state/government.

She's a Trumpian perfect storm!
