If the Republicans won't give up ACA subsidies when they are being pressured and taking political hits, the theory for why they are *more* likely to concede with the pressure removed is .... ?

This is kind of where I am at this point
two contradictory ideas that i hold in my head at the same time: 1) i think the threat to both SNAP recipients and federal workers is significant enough now that even bad deals are worth making to prevent further harm, and, 2) everyone who caves now should retire in shame

Separate from whatever is or isn't happening in the Senate tonight and whether or not you should believe axios ratfucking, this is objectively correct about the chamber as a whole
I don't know what the Senate is going to do. But if they do in fact fold in exchange for nothing, they will be living up to past performance. To expect the Senate to carry out the will of the American people is to misunderstand why it was created in the first place.

It’s shit like this that makes me think the GOP doesn’t care about winning elections and they’re just not planning on having them. Because no one who thinks they have to win elections does this.

I think that Paradox Interactive bears significant responsibility for the current administration but I still think buying their entire catalog is less materially harmful than buying WH40k: Rogue Trader because Owlcat Games is a Russian studio

As much as we rag on these games for having horrible models of history/politics/military theory and the fanbases they attract, there isn't anything inherently wrong with enjoying them because if you look hard enough *everything* is problematic
