We’re five years into the pandemic, and the science is telling a very different story than “just a cold.” COVID affects blood vessels, organs, metabolism, and cognition — and the impacts compound with each infection.

Today my therapist ended on a banger:

"You are a kind person, remember to be kind to yourself this week."

I was like...you're really just gonna throw that at me in the last 30 seconds of the session????

This is devastating, yet optimistic.

Highly worth a watch.

Wait I have another.

We need UBI that covers the cost of a 1 bedroom apartment.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

My most woke opinion is that all cars should have speed limiters that works with GIS technology so that you cannot go more than 5 over any given speed limit.

The 5 over is to allow for passing and maneuvering.

In two major US cities, Democratic Socialists beat Democrats.

Since October of 2023, after being a democrat my whole life, I felt like I couldn't keep being one, because they no longer represented my hopes for my country. It's only gotten worse since then.

Interesting turn of events.

Hey fellow renters! Check this out!
Renters: I want to hear from you! At our next Homelessness and Housing Committee meeting on Tuesday, November 18, we’re holding open public testimony so renters can speak directly to councilors about their experiences and what they’d like to see from the City.

I met a Portland native last night who was a life long cyclist.
I said I'd not biked since childhood, and they asked "why not????"

Because I never lived anywhere that I could even consider biking as transportation.
Driving in traffic is a dull and unpleasant chore and the only way Americans can escape having to do it all the time is by moving to one of three very expensive cities. This is bad and we should fix it.
appropos of going outside daily, I have to note that drivers have just absolutely and completely lost their minds. I'm amazed that it has, somehow, gotten continually worse

why do drivers do this to themselves. just in full psychopathic rage all the time, everywhere

“But you ran on cleaning up the garbage!”

Yes…and people are not garbage. And a lot of the garbage at encampments comes from illegal dumping from housed people.

We should just stop people from becoming homeless in the first place.

every few years it's revealed that the NYT was sitting on information about some horrific thing that public knowledge of would have changed the country's course and for some reason a ton of people still give them money. you can play those games on other sites

Tonight's anti-fascist activity was biking through the streets of Portland while songs from the Willy Wonka soundtrack played, ending in a spot on the river beach where we "blew up" Whaley Wonka.

Every single one of these people giving testimony against the amendment are all "safety safety safety".

Sweeps aren't safety, cops aren't safety, shelters aren't safety.

Social supports to keep people from winding up on the streets is safety.

THANK YOU!!!

Someone finally calling out the people repeatedly lying, just following the mayor's dishonest script.

something profoundly broken about people weaponizing their children as a reason that we should continue to invest in sweeping the homeless. Why is sheltering your children from having to see poverty and injustice more important than just building a policy where we eliminate poverty and injustice?

The budget that the mayor and his supporters are screaming about being reduced by 4 million is one that has already taken millions in funding away from housing people.

This is what these people really want, is more dead homeless Portlanders.

Haha, it's so true though.
Remember when the Democratic Party party turned on David Hogg for suggesting we should primary the types of senators who would do shit like fold in half at the worst possible time, resulting in millions of Americans getting fucked over a barrel?
