Oh, and I do beads. Bees? Beads!

I'm just glad to know there is another person I might reasonably see in person some day that's going to get my quotes from this movie.

I swear no one I've ever known has seen it.

Is Monica Lewinsky on Bluesky?

I pretty much had to go with a rain cape because it's extremely difficult to find outdoors gear in plus sizes for women.

I also usually wear skirts, and the way you can hook the rain cape to your thumbs helps keep my legs dry without needing to somehow wear rain pants over a skirt.

Yeah, I used to live on the 3rd floor, now I'm directly up from that same unit but on the 9th floor.

On the 3rd floor the light from the globes lit my space as much as a low lamp. It was my living/dining area so not so bad.

If it had hit my bedroom I would have had to put blackout curtains up.

A local in East Portland just posted a survey about Stark and Washington, and it feels like the same kind of project?

Here's a second article, which links to the first one that has more info, about 4th Avenue's redo.

This is such an exciting project. It’s the most complete and well-executed example of quality bike and bus infrastructure in the city and it shows what PBOT is capable of when given relative design freedom and ample funding.

SW 4th isn't just about bikes (it's a dream for buses too)

I'm sure it's not nothing, but most people use low lights in their homes, draw shades or curtains, and turn off the lights at night.

The difference in the light on the two sides is, as I said, staggering, and that is at night, so the other side has apartments but no globes.

Done!

I live on 4th avenue which just went through this kind of massive restructuring. It is so much safer for people on bikes and on foot, and that means it's also safer for people in cars.

These types of overhauls are needed throughout the city.

I hadn't biked since childhood when I moved here, and 2 years ago I bought an ebike.

Today I said to a friend "I don't really think a 5-6 mile bike ride is a problem, I'd rather be on a bike that long than a bus".

I don't even know who I am anymore.

My apartment building uses down focused light on the property.

The apartment building directly next to me does not, they use huge bright globes.

The difference in harsh light at night between the side of the building without the globes and the side with them is staggering.
