Great thread
My Galaxy Brain take is that theaters screwed themselves with reserved seating. Among other things, it used to be that most of the audience was seated before the trailers began, lots of eyeballs on pre-show ads. Now, the trailers, which are also ads, start, and the theater is often still empty.
AMC Theatres is now working to shorten the amount of ads shown before a movie.

My number one favorite thing about being a director is that I get to surround myself with experts. I can have opinions on everything, but I can’t DO everything, and having oodles of experts makes the whole thing so much better! I love not knowing what they know!
Even outside of the business world, I've always found that owning up to the things you don't know instead of feigning expertise (AI assisted or otherwise) fosters better communication and makes you more appealing to interact with overall.
Saw a long Japanese thread the other day about how people feel really assured whenever their coworkers or even bosses simply say they "don't know" or "it's not their expertise" these days.

So many people defer to AI to not lose face that honestly admitting your limits is much more reassuring.

Smiling at all the Edi Gathegi Superman love. He’s such a talent and had so much fun working with him on Aporia.

I see people saying, "What do we expect the Democrats to do? We don't have majorities in any of the three branches of government!"

But what I'm thinking is: Chuck Schumer's been a public servant since he was 24 years old. When, exactly, are we expecting him to get good at it?

Imagine if early in Obama's first term, in the face of a Democratic supermajority passing the Affordable Care Act, Republicans merely shrugged and said, "What do you want us to do? We're out of power!"

And then just waited for the next election.

Schumer has no balls for a fight, no desire to make a case to the American people. He’s just gonna stand there, waiting for them to realize they voted for an asshole and then surely because he’s been there, he wins power by default.

It’s the same playbook as an incel “best friend” in a teen romcom
Schumer confessing he’s secretly tickled by the outcome

I recently left DC for Ohio. It’s never been clearer to me why a lot of voters are disgusted with both political parties as well as the mainstream news media.
I have to wonder whether any of the Democrats on NATIONAL TELEVISION weighing on/condemning Mamdani’s comments actually watched or listened to the interview in which he said/already clarified them? Sure seems like they didn’t.
Hakeem Jeffries on Mamdani: "'Globalizing the intifada' by way of example is not an acceptable phrasing. He's gonna have to clarify his position on that as he moves forward."

If your political life consists only of online rants and reposting screeds and "engaging" you are actively contributing to the kakistocracy.

Community is a real life, hands on, grind it out, small group, next door neighbor work.

And that is all that matters.

There are no distractions. It's all bad. Systematically stripping trans people of their rights, guys in balaclavas shoving any brown person with a tattoo into a ummarked vans, ending healthcare for millions. It's all in service of fascism and technofeudalism. It's all one thing. That's the point.

I did an event in DC & there was a party for donors etc after. Was talking to 2 ppl & I said "Things are so bad." They said "No this is how it is. Things swing one way, then another. It's normal."

That's when I realized why Dems are toothless. They have no idea what this is. Frogs boiling in water.

I kid you not, my work knows that I do drawing on the side and someone in the office told me AI could save me time and my response was "but I like drawing" and it broke them. They didn't know how to answer, they just couldn't comprehend that people make art because they like making art.
