Full points to @theradr.bsky.social 's On Repentance And Repair for being a great look at what genuine repentance looks like and what to expect from the person who was wronged and the community around them. Do highly recommend.

Every day there is something to do and I'm sick of it.

Two years ago I wrote about the lost art of a true snow day. Today, dealing with the aftermath of #WinterStormFern, this feels pertinent again.

One of the best organizers I know in the Twin Cities has a great line, "We can't always take away the hurt, but we can take away the alone."

How many times have we watched video over the last two years of Palestinians screaming and crying because of brutality like this and far worse :-/

May we be bold in our demands for a just peace for all

Saying again: Never EVER donate to a candidate or PAC.

If you are so moved to make political contributions, it's exponentially more effective to support grassroots organizers like blackvotersmatterfund.org, www.voteriders.org, www.centerforcommonground.org, or countless others
Black Voters Matter
Our goal is to increase power in marginalized, predominantly Black communities. Effective voting lets a community determine its own destiny.

It really sucks to be living at a time when this quote is relevant.

Matthew 25 is what got him. Then:

"I dont want to believe in hell. I dont want to believe youre going there. But this is what Jesus says. You can walk away. You can choose justice. You can use your skills and training for good. You can be a protector. But right now you're not."
Preaching at CBP officers about justice and repentence and one started crying and had to walk to a different area

Crazy that the party that spent 45 years telling Americans that their government was their enemy are the ones who finally made it come true.

At the end of the day, the Black Lives Matter era was about whether people should be killed in the street, and lots of people decided yeah and put those little blue flags on their cars. It spread to everyone because it stopped for no one.

As someone who has spent over 35 years trying to explain that violence is inherent to policing only to have most people be OK with this, I could be excused if I decided to just give up. But I'm not. I knew we would be where we are today. I still think that we do not have to live like this.

People already working hard to prove how perfect Alex Pretti was. To show he didn't "deserve" to be killed. But it's a trap folks. You're only feeding into a dynamic where people who are considered lesser get no protection. You don't have to be an Alex Pretti to deserve to live.

they're executing moms and nurses in the street. they're using preschoolers as bait. they're stealing people's dads and grandmas and children. they're tear gassing babies. they're staking out schools. there is no remedy but abolition. any proposal that doesn't start there is an act of violence.

We lean on those with access to levers of power out of desperation which is fine but we also gotta look past that when this is the reality.

I don’t know why this is so hard for people but people you have to repeatedly call and beg to ask them to oppose murder in the streets will never really be on your side

You could actually structure your moral code around the idea that law enforcement doesn't exist to execute people. You don't have to create perfect victim narratives, you can just refuse to accept that the state gets to kill people.

This is your occasional reminder that the only way to become a comic book creator is to go and make a comic.

Made a comic? Any comic at all? Congratulations, you're now a comic book creator! Welcome to the club!

There are no dues, but we are all thinking about maybe getting some cool jackets.
