There's no ICE accountability without ending qualified immunity.

They're murdering people. There won't be justice for the lives they've stolen, but there must be accountability.

My bill with @markey.senate.gov would ensure families can sue the agents murdering their loved ones.

What the fuck is it going to take to get people to listen to her?

I am. But there are three things at play here regarding ICE collecting private data. Quick rundown on the issue, why you should be paying attention, and what I'm doing about it:
So which politician is calling for the dismantling of the probably illegal database that ice & this government is collecting biometric data of protesters?

Something important to understand about ICE thugs in the Twin Cities is that they're harassing innocent kids and parents at bus stops and schools every single day. Even after the Pretti shooting. It's terrorism.

The other thing I’m learning is that anonymity is associated with severity of violence, which is explained by a theory of deindividuation (e.g., it’s easier to feel like you’re acting as an entity instead of as an individual).

But… the studies about the benefits of deanonymizing are pretty mixed.

A note on these studies—deindividualization does not require a mask. It can also happen through something like wearing a uniform.

A genuine question—and I’d specifically like to hear from experts on this one.

Is there any evidence to support that unmasking ICE would make them any less violent? Or is the goal primarily to make the videos less scary to watch?

Okay. The last last thing.

Lots of people in the replies saying unmasking is about accountability, not violence prevention.

I just want to acknowledge that there is no evidence that anyone is actually going to hold any ICE agents accountable.

So the first obviously relevant thing I’m learning is that there are multiple kinds of anonymity: identity anonymity, visual anonymity, and action anonymity.

Masking is a form of identity anonymity. ICE detention centers being closed to the public is a form of action anonymity.

Every member of congress has a duty & right to conduct oversight on DHS.

They should all come do rapid response. Come inspect the Twin Cities ICE HQ. Push in and do some oversight. Do not let the guards turn you away. Make them arrest you or beat you or let you in.

UPDATE: After seeing this video, I informed ICE of my intent to visit the Baltimore facility today. I was told I would be denied entry.

It’s clear Trump's ICE would rather engage in a cover up. I will not stop pressing until we get answers. We need transparency & accountability.
Like many of you, I have seen this video, and I'm demanding answers.

My team has reached out to ICE repeatedly and have yet to get clear answers.
