Rep. Raskin: “I think that the DOJ has been in a cover-up mode for many months and has been trying to sweep the entire thing under the rug…There's no way you run a billion-dollar international child sex trafficking ring with just two people committing crimes.”

I am. But there are three things at play here regarding ICE collecting private data. Quick rundown on the issue, why you should be paying attention, and what I'm doing about it:
So which politician is calling for the dismantling of the probably illegal database that ice & this government is collecting biometric data of protesters?

We have been told for nearly 30 years that America needed to tolerate mass shootings because the broad availability of guns would help us defend ourselves from an overreaching federal government. That day has come. The people who said this are supporting the federal agents. Many have joined them.

Once again, the fact that we are betraying the Danes & have betrayed the Canadians - quite, literally, the closest of our closest treaty allies - this way is a national shanda that should have immediately ended this presidency a year ago & should immediately end it now.
I think a good strategy for your non-leftist social media presence (ie everywhere but here) is to give this photo - the remains of Danish soldiers returning in coffins after being killed in America's war in Afghanistan - as wide an audience as possible. Remind people who we're betraying

Rep. @AOC: I understand that Vance believes shooting a young mother of three in the face three times is an acceptable America that he wants to live in, and I do not. That is a fundamental difference between Vance and I. I do not believe that the American people should be assassinated in the street.

One of the (several) problems with the demand that bystanders and targeted people be immediately compliant with ICE agents is that fleeing ICE is incredibly rational. They’re violent, piggish thugs who disappear some people into horrendous gulags and shoot others in the face.

A woman was shot dead on camera and Trump’s ICE is launching a full scale coverup. Nobody is above the law. Federal agents who break the law in Minnesota, Oregon or anywhere else, must be prosecuted.

Once you think about people having their personal “brands”, schools talking about students as “consumers”, the never ending quest for quarterly growth has really infected everything. Not even for profit companies necessarily need to be “growing” their margins or every metric all the time
"We live in hell, and the rapacious need for growth in every industry, unrelenting, forever and ever, is decimating all of our institutions and our way of life."

Abducted, with no warrant, her family couldn’t find her for hours.

She was later released with NO CHARGE.

A DHS statement said she “violently resisted arrest, injuring two officers”.

A great irony of the climate change-driven insurance crisis is that the same insurers that are canceling homeowners’ policies en mass bc they’re too “high risk” will turn around and write policies for giant fossil fuel facilities next to the literal ocean in hurricane alley. Maybe this is why:
New methane export facilities are poisoning the climate and communities—but they can still find insurance. The Center for Media and Democracy found one man serving as director for both the insurer and the fossil fuel company they insured. From @matthewcook5.bsky.social: trib.al/CjNrzU9
Top AIG Exec Has Major Fossil Fuel Ties - The American Prospect
A Center for Media and Democracy investigation shows that John G. Rice, AIG’s lead independent director, holds the same position at Baker Hughes, a global fossil fuel technology company that has received major contracts from companies AIG insures.

Two things on Sarama from my end, though the hire seems a unorthodox:

1. He was very well thought-of by Blazers execs and the Remix kept a lot of his principles after he left

2. I think very highly of Vanja Černivec and trust her judgment if she thinks he's the best choice

Right-wing media influencers are now being welcomed into the federal government to promote its messages. This kind of media access shows a deepening alliance between the Trump administration and an online world willing to misrepresent facts if it means furthering political goals.
