Every time someone says “AI does [useful thing]” you can place a safe bet that what they actually mean is “a machine learning algorithm trained on very specific high quality data does [useful thing]”

This is specifically about AI use in humanities disciplines within academia, which is clear from context- this crap is extremely harmful in that setting. Inevitably, people show up to be like "AI finds cancer cells tho".

We have separate retirement accounts. I keep her in the loop about money even though she hates it.

A lot of my friends are trans, but a whole lot more aren’t.
My cis friends do turn out to be trans sometimes, too.
But the rest of them? They’re just folks who can be normal about being a friend. I have different medical needs, yup. So does everyone.

My partner has needed a wheelchair to navigate the airport. The distance from curbside to ticketing to security to the tram to the gate at DIA is *a lot*.
And then when they arrive to me at BOS, they can walk. Because gate to curb at BOS is way shorter, especially bypassing security.
