me: sometimes if i'm having a particularly bad day or our conversations drift to the utterly inhospitable bleakness of the world and its future my therapist will pause the conversation to say, "i know i've asked before, but i just want to ask you again-are you considering killing yourself" (no)
me: when she asked a second time yesterday rather than give her a straight answer again i said to her, "you know, my friends and i sometimes joke about how great it would be to get isekai'd" (cue fiftysomething-friendly explanation) "so my answer to your question is, 'where's the bus. let's go. i'm ready' [bitter laughter]"
me: she looks at me with a mixture of concern and relief and says "after such a difficult conversation it really heartens me to see you smiling and laughing again. and you know what, truthfully, i think i'd like to climb aboard that bus too."
