To my understanding, Discord isn't yet a public company and therefore doesn't need to maximize shareholder value in the same way as a public company.
Anyway, afaik they're reportedly planning their IPO and their anti-publiv CEO just stepped down so it's probably going to get A Lot Worse.

It makes it even worse that Apple tries so hard to create a unique environment that at this point you need legacy knowledge of their products, when they used to intentionally design their products as usable by multiple skill levels.

My understanding, also, is that consumers don't actually want those things. They're driven by executives who refuse to listen to what their customers want to the extent that they think they know better about what their customers want, even when the data clearly says otherwise.
