A Just Asking Questions Effect for spreading false information.
This thread is an overview of my lab’s research that I presented at Psychonomics this morning. #psynow24

TLDR: Getting people to generate their own false answers leads them to believe that info. 1/
So I’m doing a thing next week.

Speaking about how ordinary people can fight in the disinformation war. It’s more than just debunking.

I just re-watched this 10-year-old @randyrainbow.bsky.social video in honor of the news that the Supreme Court denied Kim Davis’ request.

SEATTLE!!!

We’ve now taken the lead by 91 votes! 🤯 This thing is certainly not over! Over 1,000 ballots have been challenged, so if you haven’t tracked your ballot yet get on it! Our trusty volunteers have been working hard to "cure" ballots so they count! We're so close!

91 votes.

Wow. The progressive has pulled ahead of the “centrist” incumbent for Seattle mayor.

By 91 votes.

(I’m not sure what centrist means in some local elections in democratic places. Seems to mean right of center corporate democrats.)

*this*. there is no end to the tabloids' and fascists' demands because they have nothing other than those demands -- there is no "program" and no "opinion" other than rage. The only end is the one put to it by reasonable people while there is still a chance.

Something good from the Supreme Court? Wow.

And this is really good.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court denied an attempt to challenge Obergefell v. Hodges, the case affirming marriage equality nationwide.

Our freedom to marry remains the law of the land.

Feeling offended by The NY Times Spelling Bee puzzle this morning.

It claims Pavlovian is not a word. While based on a name, it is a word on its own.

Dems before the election, when they want your vote, fight to defend healthcare.

Dems after winning big in the elections? Rolling over without any concessions.

They caved. With no concessions won. Quickly and quietly. On a Sunday. With a plan as to which less vulnerable senators would take the vote — less vulnerable meaning not up for reelection next year for many of them.

Depressing. How do they expect to keep their base engaged?
After election wins this week.

After everyone understanding that Trump and republicans are responsible for this mess.

After the cruelty of starving children and not paying people while have a f—ing Gatsby party.

The democrats may cave and blow up their own base. Moderates need the base to win.

Run for Something

Anything. People should run for school boards and city councils.

And some real people should be looking at primarying some senators.

Please @murray.senate.gov and @cantwell.senate.gov do not cave. Protect people. We have family members who depend on the ObamaCare exchanges. No one can afford what this will do.

I am hoping staff monitor your accounts at times like this. Are y’all listening? We have voted for you before.

Or, just a suggestion, we could pay people enough to enable them to buy a home.
Trump and his cronies are now pushing 50-year mortgages.

Buckle up. This is going to make the 2008 mortgage crisis look like the good old days.

@sanders.senate.gov and @warren.senate.gov and @markey.senate.gov should tell any Senator considering a cave that they'll happily host stadium stops with @aoc.bsky.social and any other rising star that wants to primary them in their districts if they can't hold the line for people's basic needs.

So much for balanced reporting.
So the oldest person ever to become president keeps falling asleep in his office during public events and there’s no big public discussion on how this is a coverup or how republicans are lying to us about how this government is running?

This is a good article. Fact checking and critical thinking aren’t enough.

In an information war, you need to provide better more reality based narratives.

But if a reactionary conservative wins by the smallest of margins, that is a mandate and evidence of a restructuring of the electorate.

If a democratic socialist wins, that can’t mean anything because then my ideas may be less popular that I want to acknowledge.
Damn, I hate it when things that happen mean nothing :-(

Why not stop all private jets instead of regular flights for regular people?

Would probably save the same amount of work and do more for the environment.

Of course, those are the oligarchs benefiting from the Trump tax cuts and regulation cuts.

But really, stop the private jets.

Run against the corruption.
Run against the billionaires.
Run against the oligarchs.
Run against the cruelties.
Pardons are now available for anyone who can pay for them. This is the most corrupt President in history.
