It’s so annoying hearing moderates espouse ‘good governance’ but they themselves can’t write a stable budget!
Taking the state further into debt just to maintain the existing highway infrastructure we have, all to avoid increasing the taxes we already raised to pay for highway expansion projects, is so wild. Ferguson's first transportation budget is even worse than I expected.

happened by the vigil by chance as I was biking home. sad to see that despite all the work done to improve the area it’s still not enough. we gotta continue the fight for Vision Zero
The person who was killed last night crossing Beacon Ave on a bike by a hit-and-run driver was named Allie. They were described as a "hard-core cyclist."
The vigil/protest is expected to take over Beacon and Stevens until midnight, if SPD lets that happen.

Hot take: Fremont Bridge should be closed to cars and open only for bikes and pedestrians. For cars it's mostly redundant with Aurora Bridge and we're never going to build a new bridge (with the required ability to open, especially) for non-cars. As a historic bridge it'll last a lot longer, too.

Continuity can be good, and there are Harrell administration leaders who have earned a chance to continue, but @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social should accept Adiam Emery’s resignation, and appoint a new interim SDOT director to serve while she conducts a national search.

I ride this stretch all the time. it’s a shame because there are protected bike lanes on either side of about 8 blocks but for those 8 blocks you have to mix with traffic that is used to speeding down Airport Way

regarding trees: “for every one that is removed, two more will be planted.” sounds like after 10-15 years it will be a net positive of tree cover alone, not to mention all the forest at the edge of the suburbs that will be spared since we’ll have more dense housing available in the city
