Hooray! The only thing apparently worth saying about comedy - that it’s being gagged - is being said once again by someone who’s done absolutely fucking fine by being allowed to do whatever comedy he wanted in an extremely friendly environment that no longer exists, for purely economic reasons.

passport: approved! it's taken almost 10 years to hit this point and a frankly baffling amount of money. we will be celebrating this victory, and never forget: abolish the home office

We are so sad to hear that Dave Ball, the keyboard genius of Soft Cell, has died. He was an electronic pop pioneer and with Marc Almond made a unique catalogue of songs, completely original in sound and content. Our love and condolences go to Marc and all those close to Dave. Neil and Chris xx

*neither* of our original citizenship referees could be used for the passport, because the scope of who you can use suddenly narrows down. it's remarkable. everyone involved in the running of the home office has ai generated slop for brains, from top to bottom

Someone should ask the guy out of ace of base how he went from a nazi to light weight euro-pop dance songs of love, then we could apply that the the whole fucking world. #totp

If you go see GOOD BOY, stay after the 45-second end credits for a short piece on how they made the film. The director emphasizes that Indy had no idea he was in a movie, and they just had to shoot hundreds of hours of footage for almost 3 years to get each shot. Kinda like working with Jared Leto.

you shouldn't have to attempt to "argue" that telling spouses of british citizens (for example) that the last 5 or more years of them being here doesn't count and they have to leave is beyond evil, should you. why is this even something that needs to be up for a debate

Gamergate never ended, it’s just became the world we all have to live in.

Thanks, we all hate it.
The funny thing is, I thought the sudden wave of people telling me I need to die was about the white-on-white crime tweet, but it wasn’t.

It was just about me being a liberal woman who occasionally, as a freelancer, as a small part of my career, works for Blizzard

Obsessed with this janky VHS cover for GODZILLA VS. MEGALON, both for the PD cover art and for the taglines touting it as a “chilling horror classic.”

I remember the Lib Dems getting getting years of bad publicity for having once debated (and heavily defeated) republicanism but Reform put "vaccines gave the King cancer" on the main stage and all they get is this fluffing in response.
Jesus wept, you have a doctor claim that the covid jab gave the King and the Princess of Wales cancer and this is what you put out?

Not only is it drivel it is completely devoid of any political analysis.
God help us if this is the BBC political analysis

The thinking that you can defuse the flag trap by going "yes we love flags" will lead to, within a week, all labour MPs dressing in flag suits and shouting at Farage "do you hate England for not dressing like this?" Whilst the racists don't actually give a shit about flags, as it's racism they love.

Blog update: New Order reached the summit of the indie charts in June 1985 with "The Perfect Kiss", an astonishing single whose lengthy, ambitious sprawl never ceases to fascinate. Never a dull moment, and just as ambitious as their 70s synth forebears.

He won't see this, as social media ain't his thing, but today is his 80th birthday and I know he'd love it if you checked out or revisited one of his films. Much love and many more Gary!
