No one has EVER run on a platform anywhere close to this
If this country was truly “pro-life,” we would have Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, gun reform, universal child care, and a living wage.

The right-wing agenda isn’t about “life.”

It’s about control.

My Boyfriend is a Bear by Pamela Ribon and Cat Farris

…don’t laugh. This book is actually incredibly charming. Don’t underestimate it, because it is such a genuine story about love, relationships, and their ups and downs and pressures, and that special feeling of finding your “one”

The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck- Don Rosa

How did Scrooge McDuck make his fortune? A tale across years that spans from the Scottish highlands to the American frontier, there is no graver injustice you can do to yourself then by going one more day without this beautiful work of art

@nberlat.bsky.social So I'll support AOC for president, but what's more important is the discipline and cohesion of the democratic party. There needs to be ways to stop rotating villains dead in their tracks.

ya know, the more builds I test with Arcanum, the more I find that tons of them work - and not just work, but allow you to progress quite handily in ways that feel fresh and unique!

Right now, I'm trying what I call "arcanum, the RTS" where I am a mage that summons monsters to fight for me!

Imma try and keep this short, but this is what i think is importantly historically. The 1960s civil rights laws and decisions were not technically "new legislation." it was a restoration of what already was.

In scifi, you're running into the same themes about artificial intelligence over and over - sometimes aware and critical, sometimes not - of AI revolt, fear of malfunctioning AI, evil AI - and rarely the question "why did we make a digital slave?"

But slavery is the common denomination in sci-fi.

Every communist and leftist in the US going: “hey they get it finally!”
This part of our response essay is where I'm at. Boiling down all of politics to electoralism has been absolutely terrible for resisting rising authoritarianism.

You can test new tech ideas using the Seinfeld Test

Would the product eliminate the plot of an episode? (Google maps, cell phones, paypal, battery packs)

Good tech.

Would the product inspire new Seinfeld plots? (NFTs, AI chatbots, crypto currency, blindboxes, metaverse land sales)

Bad tech.

everything we've done is wrong in every single way but it makes people rich so we keep doin it 🫠

I have a generalised version of this - while there are specific exceptions, it just feels like a _huge_ proportion of the American conservative movement revealed themselves to not really care about anything? Like, nothing concrete at least. It's all just vague ressentiments around Gender and Race.
tiktok deal and subsequent rebirth, coupled with generalized revelations that most china hawks don’t care at all about trump undermining their supposedly all important great power competition…..is tremendously blackpilling for me.
