Enormously proud that SKASE: FALL OF A TYCOON has been nominated for Best Audio Documentary at the AIDC Awards. The ABC Rewind team really did a fantastic job on this series and I’m so chuffed to have been part of it. All 5 episodes are on @abclisten and podcast apps.

This is so Australia. Tree fell on a motorway on ramp. Cleared very quickly... and the rubbish left completely blocking the adjacent cycle path.

One thing that astonishes me about the Herzog visit is that Israel has murdered more journalists than any other state in the 21st century, and he hasn’t faced a single question about this (to my knowledge) from the Australian media

Pauline Hanson’s racist rhetoric cast a shadow over my childhood. Here we are again | Zoya Patel
Pauline Hanson’s racist rhetoric cast a shadow over my childhood. Here we are again | Zoya Patel
As a first generation immigrant, it is gutting to see Australians falling for One Nation’s anti-immigration rhetoric 30 years on from Hanson’s initial rise I’ve been cynical about politics for a long time, especially when it comes to Australian attitudes to racism and immigration. The latter has always been the favourite scapegoat of rightwing politicians to blame for anything they don’t want to meaningfully address through policy – house prices rising? Unemployment rates too high? Economic inequality growing? It’s because of all those foreigners, obviously, coming here to steal jobs, houses and food right out of the mouths of “Aussie families”. It’s so predictable it’s almost boring. But I will admit that even my hardened black heart was dismayed to see the recent polls that show a rise in popularity for One Nation. While I know that the factors driving poll outcomes are complex, it is gutting to see Australians falling for the same rubbish 30 years after I thought we were done with Pauline Hanson for good. This demonstrates, incontrovertibly, that the “Goose” is not the dumbest person in the Federal Liberal Party.
For any Member to ascribe these traits as belonging to Goose, let alone lauding his ability to “lead” at this “watershed” moment in their History, beggars belief

Bring back Harold Holt !!

Trying to understand: the Constitution gives Congress the power to impose tariffs. The President imposes tariffs without Congress. Congress passes a law rescinding his tariffs. The President then vetos that law. Seems like something’s wrong here.
