The closest thing to Rickrolling you'll ever see in a mainstream movie.

I didn't recognise the location while I was watching the scene, but I am deeply amused by the coincidence.
This is true and I was the only one on set excited about it (and playing the song on my phone to blank stares)
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

Very interested to see that the parliamentary debates of New Guinea (1934-41) and Papua New Guinea under Australian rule (1952-75), as well as independent PNG (1975-99), have now been digitised by Trove.

I took some time this morning with @abcnews Pacific Beat to reflect on the anniversary of Port Vila's massive earthquake. A year on, this town looks like a fighter with some teeth knocked out. We may be down, but we're not out.

"Beyond tragic", "beyond excited", "beyond grateful"...

Let's move beyond this one quickly.

If you're not in Aotearoa New Zealand, but would like some lil sprinkles of joy today, look at the posts tagged #secretsantaaonz. This is an entirely volunteer-run gift exchange, where hundreds of people buy / assemble / make gifts for someone they've been assigned. The gifts NEVER fail ❤️
It's not even 7 am and I've already been smiling for 10 mins, for it is #secretsantaaonz opening day! I am wandering home from the gym while stalking the feed. As usual, I am super impressed by everyone's gifts. I promise I'll open mine once I've showered and gotten dressed (in ~1hr) - EXCITED!

Every Christmas my brother makes ice-cream Christmas pudding: rum-soaked dried fruit, praline, and chocolate stirred through ice-cream. It’s great. For the last couple of years he’s been making DIY kits and if you’re in Canberra this weekend you can buy one and make the best Christmas pud yourself:

Veronica's soaps are lovely and would make a great gift.
Frustrating. I am getting zero reach on my soap FB page because apparently Meta wants everyone to pay for reach. ($87 a month for Business Plus!)

In other news, if you're in Australia, today is probably the last day I can guarantee delivery for Xmas.

I mean this, academics. If you don't feel capable of embedding a trans perspective into your class for time or expertise reasons, ask me and I will come talk to them for you.

I will even try to relate it to paleogeology (or history, English, drama...), god help me.
I will come and do a guest lecture online for anyone, anytime, about this, for free. For any class.

I will tell your electromotor physics class about trans rights.

I will tell your paleogeology class about trans rights.

Just ask me. I will do this.
