I’d never try to compare Australian healthcare to American healthcare because by comparison we have it so good! But there is much of our healthcare that does requires payment, such as some medical tests, and some medications. But yes it’s mostly affordable.
Average healthcare costs in the US:

Giving birth? $18,000

Cancer treatment? $150,000

One month ICU stay? Between 30k and 150k.

That’s not including copays, deductibles, interest and all the other hoops you have to jump through.

Cost in Canada? $0.

Cost in the UK? $0.

Cost in Australia? $0.

I’m so tired of politicians doing silly obvious things and nothing stops it happening
Ah so that’s the play. “Mistakenly” let the Nazis March to provide the excuse pass a law to ban the peaceful protests.

"How many trans people have you seen on the BBC in the last 5 years?"

"How many trans kids/families have thanked you for getting the Tavistock closed down?"

"Name me one Olympic medal winning trans athlete"

Simple questions, all with the same answer, yet never asked.

The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon

My hope, because of Mamdani’s win, is that many if the talented, skilled organizers and activists who have eschewed political office, because of the degree Dems have been the barrier to progress in their cities, start looking at his campaign as a blueprint.

So I’ve decided to paint the dollhouse the first or second one. Which one do you prefer? (1 or 2)?

Of course they’re giggling! I would too! They are so much better at political games, but not because they’re smarter, because the game depends upon a set of rules that republicans don’t even acknowledge exist FOR THEM.

Sen. Kaine on his vote for funding deal

“I got the first good night's sleep last night that I've gotten since Oct. 1, because I wasn't worried about being able to look Capitol Police in the eye when I walked in, or what a furloughed federal worker would say to me at church”

I got addicted to nicotine last year via vaping (I have now quit) and it is craaaaaazy how much nicotine vaping puts into your system. I ran the math and soon after starting I was getting the equivalent of two packs of cigarettes a day.
genuine advice from a bitch who has helped like a Bunch of people reduce or fully quit nicotine

swapping from cigs to vapes full on almost never works for reducing your nicotine intake in my experience. every time ive seen it attempted the intake either stays static or increases actually
humbly proposing that vape pens are quietly one of the most evil inventions in the past 25 years and that everyone involved should be tried at the hague

This is far and away my pettiest Tim Kaine gripe but the Senator’s advance staff always deliver a bottle of Maker’s Mark that is for him only to fundraising events so he doesn’t have to do toasts with the cheap beer and wine the hosts provide and that always really irked me
