Today is the start of LGBT+ History Month in the UK. I joined some cool people a while ago to reflect on why queer and trans histories are rich and powerful. Our histories can illuminate the possibilities of activism and politics, as we work to build a better world.

Keep the conversation going.

I’ll say it again: for me, the necessary indicator of a country might successfully begin a lunar settlement is whether it can consistently operate an inter-regional public transport system for 15-20 years.

Affordable, reliable, comfortable trains - in inhabited, oxygenated, temperate places.

I really appreciate an institution that has "pass with revisions" instead of me having to decide if they are minor or major revisions

This is only related in a sideways manner, but: the story of any small slice of humanity is the story of humanity, just boiled down and distilled. So:

In 2020, we had a lot of conversations about harassment at SF/F conventions, and Isaac Asimov came up several times.
the Epstein files are really devastating because they remind me of how many girls and women miss out on professional opportunities, mentorship and careers because of how many powerful, rich and influential men only view girls and women — and interactions with them — through the lens of sex

"The (UN) commission of inquiry has found that Herzog has incited genocide... Someone who incites genocide does not satisfy the good character test for entering Australia. On the contrary, a person who incites genocide should be arrested on arrival and tried under Australian and international law."
Isaac Herzog is accused of inciting genocide in Gaza. He shouldn’t be welcomed to Australia | Chris Sidoti
Anthony Albanese should recognise he made a terrible mistake in inviting the Israeli president to Australia and put a stop to this divisive political visit

Everything by Radiohead (except Talk Show Host – that's their only good song, the rest are terrible)
Fuck your favourite song. Tell me your least favourite song. The one that makes you die inside the moment you hear the first 3 seconds.

This is Libya the week it celebrates 15 years since the start of a civil war that destroyed the country & the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. Which tells you why a lot of international lawyers have never supported “responsibility to protect” (was it ever about R2P?) and NATO intervention.
