uhhh this is huge. at the bottom here tom has this screenshot, which then links to this full story (www.theverge.com/news/867244/...). by default bitlocker stores your encryption key in the cloud, which the government can access. so, uhh, don't do that, if you're running bitlocker!

This guy is a homophobe, transphobe, hater of unhoused people and anyone who says you should vote for him is an enemy of marginalized people
14 Oct 2025 -- CA Gov Gavin Newsom, still tacking right for 2028, vetoes bill passed by overwhelming majorities which would allow trans ppl to stockpile a year's GAMT in case of new fed restrictions, falsely claiming it would drive up health care costs. @rikiwilchins.bsky.social
Gavin Newsom Vetoes Important HRT Stockpiling Bill For Trans Californians, Signs Other Pro-LGBTQ+ Bills
The bill would have allowed transgender people to maintain a safe supply of medication in the era of government crackdowns on care.

if you're "nice" to people but you also think they should have no rights, you're not actually nice to people
Clarence Thomas is apparently one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, and famously knows the name of every single employee at the Supreme Court, down to the night janitors. His character is still bad! Not sure what “Alito is a kind in interpersonal situations” has to do with this.

Got excited for a job listing mentioning an "OREO Reporting Manager" but it turns out it is some kind of real estate loan thing instead of being paid to document various cookie flavors.

Everyone's memories of Dan are making me sad for being such a shut-in for so much of my life, but all the more grateful for those few times I have gotten to hang out with Friends From Online, whether its splitting a giant bucket of popcorn chicken, sundays in M Lot, or flying out to a Twins game.

like yea his routine is goals, but let’s not lie to ourselves about all the invisible work others are doing to enable him to have that routine

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

WAIT, HOLD UP
shout out to Dan McQuade, who took me up on an offer to see Hannibal Buress at the Troc, pulled out his phone to record the Bill Cosby joke, and through the butterfly effect of the internet sent Bill Cosby to prison and kickstarted the #MeToo movement. He was one of the kindest guys I’ve ever met.

Dan’s last blogpost at Walkoff Walk went up fifteen years ago today and we shut down a couple days later. Dan…uh….went on to bigger and better things. I became a CPA.

Holy shit, there's an open carry #2A protest of ICE happening in Douglas County Colorado -- a very wealthy and very red suburb county of Denver. (I lived there for 16 years.) The Trump Administration pissing off committed gun owners sufficiently for them to join the protests against ICE is wild.
