Folks, you can't report the United States to its manager. There's no superhero coming to save us.

We don't need one giant act of heroism. We need millions of small acts of solidarity. Help one person in your community for nothing in return. Then, do it again. And again.

That's the revolution.

Imagine that we are roommates. You ask me to restock the toilet paper. To prove that I did so, I show you the receipt.

The next morning, when you are in need of toilet paper, you find that the drawer is empty. This is because I have invented a new innovative method that I call Lean Shopping.

Reminder: the First Amendment protects everyone who resides in our country. It doesn't matter if you have a green card or a visa or if you're undocumented. The Supreme Court has repeatedly affirmed that any person residing in the United States, regardless of status, is entitled to 1A protections.

So. I think it's important to share news about what's happening. But I'm trying to square that with the other reality that it contributes to doomscrolling.

I think we need to start putting these things into context and talking about what we are learning or what we should take away from it.
NEW—After a day of uncertainty on where agents took Tufts student Rumeysa Ozturk, she appears to be in a Louisiana facility.

1400+ miles from Somerville, Massachusetts, where she was taken.

A judge ordered to not take her out of state without 48 hour notice. She was detained last night.

There's a #LunarEclipse tonight! If you're in the dark region here, and if you have a view of the Moon at the right time, you'll see the eclipse. Check www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/luna... for more info and timings for the eclipse in your location. (Here on the East Coast, totality peaks around 3am.)

The coolest thing I’ve seen today is that a bunch of volunteer public health professionals and developers have restored the CDC website from before January 20th 2025.

This differs from an archive in that they want to rebuild the links between pages and replicate the full website.

Many Medicaid recipients do not know they receive it because Medicaid is called different things in different states. The public narrative of Medicaid focuses on a distant other, but 40% of US children and 60% of nursing home residents receive Medicaid. Just SOME of the names by state are below:

Another free idea for the @democrats.org:

Set up a website that archives pre-Trump government resources/websites and keeps them updated with new, reliable info. Every time this trash happens, point people to THAT website.

Don't just whine. ACTUALLY HELP PEOPLE. You have ENORMOUS power.
This move to try to erase transgender people from the Stonewall Monument is cruel, pathetic, and historically inaccurate.

Trans New Yorkers played a critical role in the events at Stonewall and in the movement for equality that it inspired.

Overcoming the incentive to dunk on “users” behavior is an important element in maturing your security understanding. You have a set of levers to pull. Human nature is not one of them. Deal with that or be a righteous failure.

Do you ever think about how we’ve all been taught that “no one should be poor, hungry, or homeless” is somehow an extreme radical ideology when it’s actually just basic human empathy?
A basic article of faith among so many centrists is that there is something inherently virtuous about centrism and something inherently bad about “extremism”, regardless of the content of those positions, and that should be challenged at every goddamn turn
The party’s radical, abolitionist wing was morally correct, thank you very much.
