@elections.kingcounty.gov are you gonna let Harrell talk about your fantastic work like this?!??
Harrell said he wouldn't seek a recount despite some "irregularities" in order to give his staff closure upon being asked by media. He said he'll focus on "running through the tape" for his last six weeks in office.

Oh, fuck you buddy.
He just joked about 5 days a week in the office until December for all city employees as his final executive order. 😬

For those calling Katie Wilson a socialist, please note that in 2019, your bogeyman Kshama Sawant derided Wilson as the leader of Seattle's liberals. In her inimitable 1930s lingo, Sawant called the Wilsonites: "the Katie Wilson-dominated liberal activist layer." sccinsight.com/2019/01/07/s...
Internal Socialist Alternative documents show it runs Sawant's office and controls her vote

Clearly we need millions of podcasts about the womanophere and why it wants to get the fuck out
"In 2025, 40% of women aged 15 to 44 say they would move abroad permanently if they had the opportunity. The current figure is four times higher than the 10% who shared this desire in 2014, when it was generally in line with other age and gender groups."
Record Numbers of Younger Women Want to Leave the U.S.
The percentage of younger women in the U.S. who express a desire to migrate permanently has surged in the past decade.

Low key frothing with excitement about a bona fide PRIMBY in the mayor’s office!
And that she wants abundant PUBLIC BATHROOMS!

Look, her plans are great and I want them to succeed, but the basic fact that she is also raising a child here under the same conditions and stresses we are makes her eminently qualified on its own imo. For Seattle to work, it needs to work for families, period.
Wilson was mocked for acknowledging that the cost of childcare is outrageous and her parents help her with that expense. But it turns out a majority of voters feel the same squeeze, liked her universal childcare plan, and voted accordingly.
Katie Wilson wins Seattle mayoral race, incumbent Bruce Harrell appears to be preparing to concede

The exciting race for Mayor of Seattle can now be called. With almost no ballots left to count, challenger Katie Wilson has an advantage that incumbent Bruce Harrell cannot overcome.

Looks like she's not wearing the cross necklace today, probably a good thing for her since it would be burning a hole to her esophagus under the weight of her whopping lies in this press conference.
JIANG: Did the president ever spend hours at Epstein's house with a victim?

LEAVITT: These emails prove absolutely nothing, other than the fact that President Trump did nothing wrong

Harrell to Spend More Time with Most Of His Family: tinyurl.com/z5z3xvd4

So, OED Director Markham McIntyre, despite blatantly crossing ethical lines to recruit other department directors to Harrell’s re-election campaign, is probably still out of a job. I hope it was worth the reputational stain. I don’t think he’s a bad guy, but that was not a good move.

Good news on the home front: my SIL and her family are finally moving out next month! Bad news is that her custody trial keeps getting delayed indefinitely, but that forced her to realize that she needs to plan on being in WA for a while, which means getting her own place.

I’m having trouble accepting that the Mariners and Seahawks are BOTH good right now. I have conditioned myself to believe I don’t deserve this. With a little less than half the NFL regular season left, I am working on changing this mindset!

First winter baseball training session in the books. Shaping up to be better than last year - much better player to coach ratio, and one of the other coaches is very experienced with indoor training. Plus I got a couple of boys I was hoping to get a long look at before spring tryouts.

Not having a bought and paid for mayor would really be a breath of fresh air.
If your name is on a building in Seattle (Nordstrom, McCaw, Behnke, Chihuly, Brotman), you probably donated the individual max to Bruce Harrell’s campaign:

I will say, I have watched both of them turn the ball over in person, and while you never want to see your QB do that, whoever it is, I believe Geno’s turnovers were qualitatively cringier than Darnold’s.
The masses on the other app got mad when I noted Darnold has turned it over as many times through 9 games as Geno.

Of course I know context and blah blah Sam has been amazing but I can bad faith with the best of them.

One implication of that, regardless of who wins, is that the next mayor of Seattle is not coming into the term with an electoral mandate like Harrell did in 2021.

You can look at the other results and see a general leftward course correction, but not so much in the mayoral race.
I want to emphasize that you should not listen to anyone suggesting that a particular outcome is assured. The Seattle mayoral election is going to end up very, very close.
The word from King County Elections is we'll probably get around 35,000 Seattle ballots in today's count. That will leave roughly 10,000 left. It sounds like they had quite a few "cured" ballots come in over the weekend that will be counted Tuesday (Yes, they're counting on Veteran's Day).

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

The fundamentally wrong assumption in the Nelson/Harrell conception of SPD funding is that all of these cops will gladly give up their overtime if the department is staffed up.

They will find ways to abuse OT until they've bled the city dry. You have to deal in reality here.

It's actually a credit to the strength of our civil society that we're not treating ICE officers the way they're asking to be treated on sight.
ICE grabs father by the neck—send him into violent seizure while his arms lock up around his toddler.

"He's having seizure and they're trying to rip the baby out of his hands!"

Agents then handcuff him—before putting in ambulance with his child.

Mother is detained by agents as target of arrest.
