Luxon must reject Trump's invitation to join his 'Board of Peace'. Anything else undermines the UN and aligns NZ to Trump madness.

First thought about the election date: November 7 is right when a lot of university students (mostly first time voters) will be finishing up and heading home for the summer. It’s really important to make sure your young people know what to do if they are out of their electorate on election day.

Americans are realizing that unfettered federal power to detain and arrest is a very dangerous thing. I learned that lesson as a child when they put us into internment camps just for looking like the enemy. Don’t go further down this road.

Ōtepoti gardeners, Port Chalmers Lions have pea straw $15 a bale incl delivery but prefer minimum order of 10 bales. I'm organising a 10 bale delivery & my neighbours will pay me for their share. Turns out ive made my neighbour so so happy with my text! Making neighbours happy is delightful.

Want to be in one of my books? I’m selling the name of 1 male character in my current novel and 1 in the next for $500 each. Your character might be good. He might be bad. He might live or he might eat shit and die. Let me know if you’re interested.

“Vote for me, I can’t change anything for the better” -Chris
Lads is it good when the two major parties are making near identical ideological frames for the upcoming election, based around no promises, no hope, managerialism forever.

Share a television show that raised you.*

*The flag was utterly meaningless to me as a child. Now I know better. However, the police are still corrupt and Daisy is still a badass; one of very few on TV when I was young.

I'm reading "It Was Her House First" by @cheriepriest.com, which I've owned and been meaning to read for a while but have been in a weird reading mood.

I'm really enjoying it so far so check it out! Two people are gearing up to rehab a very run down very haunted house.

#nzpol The Prime Minister spent longer managing his Spotify Playlists than writing that speech. Nothing new, nothing to help manage growing unemployment, more cuts signalled to government investment. That wasn't a State of the Nation - it was asking people to forget the past two years.

Great to see Luxon condemn Trump's stance on Greenland and call in the US ambassador.

My mistake, he's still on holiday 15 days after he promised he would be back at work.

Seems unfair that you only get to use the bouncy slide to get off a plane when things have gone wrong. The bouncy slide should be a treat they give to the best passengers who did the flight correctly.

Intending to make a home-made version of a doner kebab, I decided to go buy some naan bread from Morteza Kebab in Newtown; I'd heard people rave about it.

Justly so - the best naan bread I've been able to buy to take home for my own use. Delicious.

Plus this is ultimately not a TWO problem, but a crisis created by a Govt that deemed health IT non-critical and significantly defunded that workforce as well as the projects on which they were engaged.
'Ongoing technology issues, including the axing or deferral of more than 100 IT projects, delays to roll outs and the outages were "not a good advertisement for New Zealand being a great place to work" amid a globally competitive health care market' - Sarah Dalton, ASMS union.
Health NZ confirms another major tech outage
A union says crumbling systems put staff and patients at risk, however, Health NZ disagrees.

I'm so disappointed in so many humans, their choices. Even when you run with denial you know. Psychologists agree that at a deep level we know when our choices and decisions hurts others.

Additional reminder: Stop presuming all unhoused people have addiction or mental health issues. But if they do, they're not less deserving of assistance and basic human empathy because they're extra icky and inconvenient. Choose not to be that asshole. #nzpol
A reminder to #nzpol specifically but everyone generally;

"They" are people. Like all humans unhoused folk just want shelter, warmth, nourishment and connection.

"They" are not the problem... 1/2
