I mean this is kind of like arguing Israel is a democracy because there's multiple Jewish supremacist parties. also I don't see anyone generally making the liberal vs conservative fascism type argument re: other foreign states and/or their lobbying and ideological supporters here in the US.

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

diffuse party leadership helps avoid that kind of accountability. there's no actual party chair in charge of either major US party like their European counterparts and while a parliamentary system is superior to the US one, you don't need it in order to have similar formal party structures.
In a normal democracy, a total collapse of party leadership would result in an no-confidence vote and immediate snap elections to find leaders who can lead
