One of the things I find frustrating about sci-fi is that because of the American influence of it, all of the planets are called things like Zexion 5 and Danshassia 7. I’d call them things like ‘Nether Roundthorpe’ and ‘Spheresbury’. Gravity Bywell. Chalfont St Globeby. Bishop’s Goitre.

dear fucking god will the bloody Guardian just shut the everloving fuck up about this fucking movie. It's a STORY. It's not real! It's one director's take on it! It's not her job to flatter your sixth-form opinions about it! www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
Wuthering Heights is at its heart a story of class and race. Emerald Fennell has got it all wrong | Rhiannon Lucy Cosslett
By turning the novel into just a corset-heaving love story, the director has stripped it of what made it so boundary-pushing, says Guardian columnist Rhiannon Lucy Cosslett

All traffic lights on roundabouts to be removed, amber no longer means stop, all speed limits to rise by 20mph - getting the country moving again.
Your challenge for the day is to invent a ReformUK policy. On Shrove Tuesday next year we get to see if they’ve adopted it.

Remember, it should appeal to insane pensioners and absolutely nobody else. QT with yours!

All of the schools stuff she says is batshit, but this is off the scale bonkers…

Has she actually looked at the structure of the British economy AT ALL?

You can disagree with the uni target all you like, but it was at least actually linked to reality and international competitiveness
Braverman says social transitioning would be banned in all schools, "no ifs or buts". She says the 50% target for university education would be replaced with a 50% target for kids going into trades like electricians and plumbing. As ever, I'll believe it when it's the MPs' own kids who do this.

I need everyone to know that the forthcoming Glen Powell movie, How to Make a Killing, is a modern American remake of one of my all-time favourite films, the classic British black comedy Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949), and I am *seething,* because there’s zero chance it does the original justice.

With apologies to everyone who followed me because of archeaology shitposting, but hey! Bookish friends!

If you're voting in the BSFAs, Locus, Nebula or Hugos (lol) I'd be so grateful for any consideration for my dark academia with added anti-capitalist orcas🖤
It's odd posting about awards eligibility & asking please consider me when my book's barely out so not many of you have read it.

But I have one sole eligible thing this year, and I'm proud of it in all its briny strangeness. So hey, please consider THE SALT ORACLE if you're nominating? 🖤🖤🖤
