I picked bulbasaur because I thought he was the cutest, and I've loved poison and grass types since XD. Sometimes I forget how broken the original Pokemon was lol.

I suspect making that sort of mystery with bitter sweet emotional impact will be a challenge for me, but it's definitely something I want to tackle regardless 😅. I completely understand the TBR problems, but if you like Mushishi, I suspect you'll really enjoy the other two when you get there 😄

That's not fleshed out enough to share, but I'd like to do a mystery series along the lines of Mushishi, following a traveling shaman. The religion will be based loosely on Mongolian shamanism, and the shaman will have some sort of capra she rides, but that's all I have so far 😔.

Folklore isn't a focus of Triple Strike, since the plot is more political, but that said, some of my favorite manga/anime are Mushishi, Petshop of Horrors, and Natsume Yuujinchou, so you'd think it'd show up all over the place in my narratives. I do have a concept for a series of short stories --

Exactly! Words and taxonomies are all lies. Chaos reigns. So if the technologically superior alien species wants to co-opt your words and use them in ways that irritate you, too bad 😂.

They mostly keep to the depths, but the Vodneel have ritualistically hunted them since colonizing the moon they're endemic to. Sveltnas meat is now an interstellar delicacy, but because of their elusive nature and the dangers of hunting them, they're a once in a score sort of catch for a village.

Yep! They're more pike-shaped, but they're large pack hunters that are the apex predators of their water column. They're a staple food for the Vodneel, as well as being considered the ultimate "sport fish" of Vodnee. So very tuna-coded 🎣

Some of the creatures of Vodnee that are mentioned are karveneor (which look like multi-eyed pike and are tuna-style predators), granji (which are based on the omul of Lake Baikal), and plankton.

Ragnar is addicted to gacha games and regularly gets accused of cheating for his aim in hero shooters. Colin is also excellent at video games. If Natalia got into video games, she'd be intolerably competitive. I'd make Alan play Phoenix Wright, but the courtroom proceedings would deal psychic damage
