Writer. Artist. Gun metal gray.

I am writing queer normative sci-fi blending literature, genre, and weeby anime fun!

On a lark, I applied for a booth at my local grocery store co-op's arts festival and got accepted! So while I'm taking the rest of November off from event-ing, looks like I'll be back at it in December! Please come by (I will try to have more art-oriented non-book merch before then 😅).

I'm actually editing a scene with him and Tris right now dealing with exactly this haha. Took five books for Alan to deal with his feelings, but we're getting there lol.

As promised, I'm using Sven for both green and purple haha. Pyreans get cool hair colors, because I am a free agent and no one can stop me. Also I was watching a lot of anime when I designed Sven (and still watch a lot of anime who am I kidding). Sometimes you gotta make your own fun, right?

lol Steele is a narcissistic piece of shit. He's power-hungry, cruel, and way worse at managing a separatist movement that he thinks he is.

I guess he has a nice (stolen) weapons collection and is hot?

#Novmember Day 4

My partner picked cars to match the personalities of the main cast, and he chose a Jaguar for Hildegarde, which is perfect imo. This is a bit of world building dialogue that nods to that, as the Crimson Hummingbird was her first ship 😁.

I'm going to double dip on green and purple with Sven lol. Green eyes are pretty uncommon in humans at this point in the future, but there's more variance among pyreans as bright colors are less recessive. Notably all of the Jiordson siblings have extremely vivid green eyes.

A day late, but who's counting? Yellow is the color used by search and rescue, so it's an extremely lucky, beloved color in star sailing culture!

Thank you for the opportunity to share! I do all my own covers/illustrations for the Triple Strike light novel series~

General Hildegarde Jiordson's epithet is quite literally The Crimson, so I have to go with her on this one lol. Red is the color of Fate and freedom, as pyreans consider them complimentary ideas rather than opposites. Freedom comes from accepting Fate without fear or regret.

Pyrean names, particularly from the Fimmel tribe, are often Germanic/Scandinavian sounding, but there's a lot more Mongolian/Central Asian influence on pyrean culture than Scandinavian. Nomadism and animism are the most significant aspects of the culture imo.

I would like to think Triple Strike has Phoenix Wright vibes in that it's got quirky comedy elements mixed in with earnest drama and kind of messed up plot elements 😅

This is the cover of book 4, and it's a view of Pyre's capital, Thee vis Drimenn. I wanted it to feel both very ancient and very modern.

My one and only Triple Strike moodboard. I should have a bunch of TS art given that I illustrate it, but I'm pretty self-critical, so there's probably less than one might expect 😔.

#OctoberWorldbuilders Day 21 (I fell behind, but no one can stop me from finishing 😤)

Quarters on pyrean navy ships are small, shared between 2-4 people except for the captain's and first mate's. Furniture is fixed, personal possessions must be stored, and dining hall/showers are communal.

I'm taking Triple Strike art commissions for the month of November in order to help support food banks across the US.

What if I hate Triple Strike and/or your art, you ask? All good! Just use this as a reminder to donate while *not* looking at my art! Wow, so easy!

More often than not, I have no sales in any given month (what you see here is a very good year for me lol), so it's always a pleasant surprise when I get even one purchase, and downright shocking when I get more than one. And selling books past volume 1? Thank you for thinking they're neat 😭.

#OctoberWorldbuilders Day 20

Different pyrean infrastructures were developed independently by the different tribal space programs, but the standards and technologies were eventually unified by the Pyreel, who became a "ruling" tribe that established the policies and laws that would become the IPC 🧵

#OctoberWorldbuilders Day 19

Given that water is reused for long periods of time on an interstellar ship like the Swallow, sanitation/sewage are extremely important! A lot of the daily maintenance of the ship is keeping these systems, along with the aquaponic gardens, going.

Triple Strike book 1 will be part of the Ace Pride Week Bundles starting Oct 19! If you enjoy watching a pirate twink flirt with an inspector twink, who remains more or less oblivious, you may like Triple Strike!

#OctoberWorldbuilders Day 18

Given that Gates generate wormholes for FTL, it's safe to assume fusion is a common, well understood power supply in Triple Strike. Energy is plentiful, for all intents and purposes unlimited, but engines can only Gate so many times before they need repairs.

#OctoberWorldbuilders Day 17

Pyrean ships have aquaponic gardens with special light filters that provide a long term food source for sailors. Sailing diet is thus primarily vegetable-based with fish and snails providing additional proteins.

#OctoberWorldbuilders Day 16

This is a complex question tbh. It doesn't come up in Triple Strike, but sovereign states, with different forms of governance/ideas about social services, still exist, so these services can vary wildly even on a single planet. There are bare minimum requirements bc...

#OctoberWorldbuilders Day 15

Outside of smuggling, trade routes are exclusively controlled by the IPC (on the pyrean side) and the HIA (on the human side). Neither has direct authority planetside, but since they control access to FTL, they effectively regulate all goods and services that use Gates.

#OctoberWorldbuilders Day 10/11

Pyrean sand sailing is both cooperative and competitive. Since the skiffs need enough lift to rise off the sand, they were originally piloted solo or in pairs, but as the sport expanded to other biomes/planets, the boats were modified, allowing for larger teams.

#OctoberWorldbuilders Day 9

Cards are really popular on the Swallow (given the pyrean belief in Fate, they love games involving luck and wagers). And while I haven't specifically designed a board game, pyreans adore Earth's Age of Sail, so I'd be shocked if there wasn't a sailing-themed one.
