We cannot lock our neighbourhoods into stasis if we want them to thrive. We need to be adaptable and allow for incremental growth.

So many more types of housing would be unlocked by this.
We need to learn from the rest of the world, rather than being stuck in outdated building practices.
It’s been several years of work getting to this point.
It’s not everything that I’d want but it’s a good first step, with external single stairs and low/mid rise scissor stairs as entirely new housing options.

Like, $6 million from raising the hotel tax. That doesn't actually have anything to do with Lansdowne.
Say we raised property taxes 2% and just said it all goes to Lansdowne 2.0, is that Lansdowne 2.0 paying for itself? Of course not. 🧵

This is appalling and would put some folks in serious danger in this era of very low vacancy, skyrocketing rental rates, and rent decontrol.
Nearly 40% of Ottawa residents are renters.

That's TWENTY times more efficient!
This apartment provides housing and is giving our city a huge surplus of taxes.
We need more of this!
