Nonviolence is, in fact, working. This administration is weaker than it was a year ago. More and more of the public is becoming galvanized against it; its agents are being impeded.
Do you honestly think people in the civil rights movement and other nonviolent movements faced no violence themselves? They practiced nonviolence because it works, because the oppressor wants a shooting war, which is the war it will win
How's your non-violent working Mr Gandhi stancil? They will kill each and everyone of you right if they had the chance and you will still be writing Kumbaya.

More than an attempted coup, where a mob tried to seize Congress on live television did? There's not going to be an implosion about anything. It's either a slow slide towards oblivion where everything gets incrementally worse as people try to live normally, or a slow grind in the opposite direction.
i feel like if the president actually went through with invading greenland, it would implode America

Today’s march took the same Fifth Ave route as the 1917 anti-lynching Silent Parade, one of the first American civil rights protests. Both started at 59th, by General Sherman’s statue, and headed downtown. For more on the Silent Parade: hyperallergic.com/naacp-silent...

A few thoughts about this lovely obituary. First, when you tell a story of someone's life this well , their memory becomes a blessing for anyone who reads it. It's just a beautiful thing... www.latimes.com/food/story/2...

Yes yes, nothing gets your constituents more fired up than statements that use the word “entanglements.” Golden age of political communication.
President Trump's decision to bomb targets in Venezuela, depose Nicolas Maduro, and "run" Venezuela continues the signature trend of his presidency: relentless focus on foreign entanglements and looking tough abroad, to distract from what’s happening to Americans' pocketbooks.

“Everybody is very, very just totally, totally, totally, troubled.” Preach, Leader. Your oratory fills my heart and gives me strength in these troubled times.

It’s been a solid year of me getting Cameron Winter’s “Love Takes Miles,” in my head, not really knowing the words, and then just making stuff up: walking around/doing some stuff/listening to Creed/eating a pie/learning sitar/rooting for Leeds/having a chat/ghosting your mom” etc.

Beyond just “get yours in time for Christmas,” a tip: I’ve learned something having a modestly successful book. Very excited to say that there’s a paperback coming out in April (huge, unexpected coup, they’re excited, etc.) BUT, that means that it is slightly difficult all of a sudden..: 1/2
I’m surprised to say that last year’s can’t-miss gift is also this year’s, yet, here we are.
