You've never heard of me, and if you say you have, I've got only one question: Who gave you this address, mom?

He/him.

This went viral in the bad way yesterday, but if you want a much smarter look at this kind of estranged mom, I really highly recommend this look at "estranged parents' forums," it really helped me understand the deeply toxic people in my life (thankfully not my parents)

Sometimes there's a man... I won't say a hero, 'cause, what's a hero? But sometimes, there's a man, well, he's the man for his time and place. He fits right in there.
Man answering his phone on the train: Yes? Correct, I’m not at work (pause) I’m not going to answer that because I am not at work today. No, you’re going to have to ask someone who is. Goodbye.

Charles Schulz's work always spoke to me when I was growing up, but this summer camp sequence talks to me in a different way these days.

When Rob Reiner was on his all-time epic run at the start of his career, he had an opportunity to read a script that was looking for a production partner, and he lost his mind for it. He decided Castle Rock had to have it, no matter what.

Man, just try to live your life in such a way that when you're not around any more people feel compelled to share fun little stories about you. I didn't really know much about Reiner, but all these memories of him are lovely.
When I interviewed Spinal Tap and Marty DiBergi this summer, none of them broke character, for the whole hour. Except Rob Reiner, once, losing it when Michael McKean's David St Hubbins talked about minimalism. I didn't use this in the feature and hadn't published any audio, but this is joyful.

The reason we're in this fucking mess is the GOP are the only ones actively trying to shift public opinion for the past 30 years, while Carville-brain Dems just follow whatever it is at the moment.
On top of not understanding public opinion is malleable, they ignore any survey results that don't confirm their prior beliefs!

AI is just rearranging the tiles on your Scrabble rack. It's not finding interesting things, its just regurgitating what already exists. Maybe it stumbles you into a word?

Imagine being so creatively bankrupt that you think mashing the rearrange button is the only way to find new ideas.
This column on Vox is the biggest pile of steaming AI crap I've seen this year. Human's aren't running out of ideas. Instead, those with power and money don't want to listen to ideas that threaten their power and money.

Ideas are plentiful. Putting those ideas into action is the hard part.
We’re running out of good ideas. AI might be how we find new ones.
What if the best use of AI is restarting the world’s idea machine?
