I found this piece sad too, but mostly because it is part of a years-long effort by progressives to understand what "really" animates Trump voters.

We already know! It is racism, misogyny and misinformation. I know that sounds condescending or whatever but it's simply what all evidence suggests.

You cannot placate these people. You cannot reach an end. Round up every refugee in camps and they'll want the next cruelty. Their 'concerns' are not about society, the economy or public safety, they're an ever moving target of fear and hatred that cannot be sated, it has to be challenged.

Looking through the (enormous) Works on Paper book of David Lynch's drawings. He seems to have manifested Mads Mikkelsen Hannibal into existence.
(Can't be sure if that year in the corner is 85 or 65. If it's 65 that's the year Miklelson was born. Cosmic.)

This is like that time Labour got decimated for being in coalition and voters were scolded "well now ye can forget about repeal, so ye can". #GE24
Now, the make up of the next Dáil is a bit more clear.

People voted for more of the same.

No problem.

Just please don’t moan about housing, health & infrastructure issues.

Even more better, don’t cry about the climate change fuelled disasters.

Yous wanted the Greens out after all.

With Fine Gael’s poll lead shrinking - it’s clear the party has a serious worry about that moment.
