We cannot let this happen, in Chester, NY, or anywhere.

Congressman @pkryan.bsky.social and his community are working hard to stop one of these from opening in Chester.

On this day in 1923, the U.S. Supreme Court *unanimously* decided that people of South Asian descent could not be American citizens, and retroactively stripped citizenship from many who had already been naturalized. Years of organized persecution followed. www.saada.org/explore/publ...

Alysa Liu skating to Donna Summer's 1978 "MacArthur Park Suite" was sheer perfection, not least because Liu and Summer are world-class talents, but also because the titular MacArthur Park in Los Angeles was the site of a widely publicized ICE/CBP raid last summer.

If you have a problem with Newsom doing this, you should have a problem with Mamdani doing this.

I don't give a fuck how cute or charming or adorable he is. This is unconscionable.
“Homeless encampment sweeps are ineffective, they are costly and they don’t actually solve the problem of homeless,” said Jeremy Saunders, an executive director of VOCAL-NY.

You cannot ethically do this @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social — not even after 7 days, not even with Dept of Homeless Services leading instead of the NYPD. There is no ethical way to harass and steal from people who have been so failed by society. The only ethical thing you can do is to give them a home.
We asked people who lived in homeless encampments that were cleared out in city “sweeps” to write about what object was the hardest for them to lose.

“They took my baby pictures and my moms obituaries,” a man in California wrote.

Yeah, this is some really weird reasoning. In all honesty, he should have long conversations with a talented therapist about this kind of reaction, instead of sharing the rationalizations on social media (X!), and pursuing such a beat.
Benjamin Ryan openly admits that his reporting on trans issues is animated by personal bias against someone who was mean to him online. Ben is not capable of reporting on this issue objectively, and yet the New York Times and other outlets repeatedly let him do just that.

In the past, people have found ways to help each other in times of need.

That’s just a benign observation, and not related to anything that is happening or might happen.
Women of a certain age in certain states, I’m just going to remind you that you can get hormones. Estrogen. Testosterone. All used to treat menopause. Via the internet.

And there are trans folks losing gender affirming care.

These two things are just coincidentally contained in the same post.

This is yet another example of a private institution capitulating to the federal government’s assault on transgender rights. In the face of these attacks, New York City will continue to be a refuge for the LGBTQIA+ community.
