Yes. It is. WTF kind of question is this?
Is right now a good time for the democrats in Congress to be very public about fighting for trans rights? And I’m not sure what slur you’re accusing me of using, but if I’ve said something wrong please do let me know.

Yeah, hop on board, way more Democrats!

It ain’t difficult and it’s worth doing.

You don’t have to let Gavin and his Pat Riley hair swan around in the spotlight all by his lonesome!
the fact newsom has gotten so much traction doing a fucking obvious thing is more of a demerit in discussing how other democrats have failed to meet the moment than a true feather in newsom's cap. literally any democrat could have been riding trump for filth since last january but they didnt.
It would also be easy for another Dem to adopt Newsom’s posture of relentless mocking hostility to Trump! His main selling point is trivially easy to mimic

An Open Letter to LeBron James on Israel, Gaza, and ‘Nothing But Great Things’
The NBA star’s recent praise for Israel, as the genocide continues, was as bewildering as it was shameful. What happened to his support for social justice?

ICE/CBP have gone unfunded for 3 days; how about 3 years? The best way to claw back the $170 billion immigration enforcement surge in the Big Beautiful Bill is to just claw it back. The 2nd-best way is to slowly drain it by never funding the underlying appropriation. @ryanlcooper.com makes the case:

I must question if these defense contractors are reliable partners for the US.

Not to mention all the things Peter Thiel is up to.

In a nutshell, the Dem lodestar should be: "ICE is bad, and immigration is good"
My theory of the moment: The extraordinary courage of ordinary people in places like Minneapolis is reawakening us to our social and economic ties to immigrants. It's making "love thy neighbor" cool again. That's the ultimate antidote to MAGA hate.

Thoughts on this:

from the perspective of someone who might want to be president, the best time to run for the white house is now, not later. so if AOC is thinking about it — if the white house is her ambition — then her best bet is to throw her hat in the ring
You Know What? Maybe the Time Is Right for an AOC Presidential Bid
She’s only 36, and there’s a good argument that she should run for Senate and bide her time. But she also could be a formidable White House candidate.

"Elon Musk is a white supremacist" is an objectively 100% true statement that most mainstream outlets wouldn't allow to be said without hedging or qualification even in an opinion piece.
i think you can judge how free - or not - our political media is by the fact that elon musk literally did a sieg heil (twice) at a rally and it’s still seen as uncouth and overly partisan (in legacy media) to describe his politics as straightforwardly white supremacist.

Let me tell you a tale of how completely the normies have been mobilized. My 14 year-old niece has done School of Rock for the past 5 years; last summer she was part of their touring band, and the kids loved playing together so much that they decided to keep doing it. (1/?)

I think a lot about all the good people have been able to do in America in spite of the country itself. It’s always been an uphill battle. Justice tends to be. Freedom fighters knew that

There’s power in that. It’s a large part of why fascists are engaging in a violent overcorrection. They’re shook
Reading American history will break your heart a thousand times but it will also fill you with such admiration and awe for all the people who were excluded from the protection of America’s founding principles and fought to promote, protect and expand them anyways

Even if you accept at face value Platner's (patently ridiculous) assertion that he didn't know what it was -- we're left with an unqualified over-entitled white guy who lacks the intellectual curiosity to research a symbol he had permanently inked on his body thinking he should be a U.S.Senator.

This is typical.

Help people a bit, while trusting them and treating them with respect, and their circumstances tend to improve!
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

I have seen national Dem consultants engaging with the post Norway Platner comeback effort (pretty right leaning ones btw!). It's not just Maine Dems who are pushing him. It's all so wild after so much of his own staff quit after being horrified!
It's nuts that these are the two candidates the respective wings of the Maine Dems have coughed up. I am positive there are, somewhere in the state, a moderate who's not 97 years old and a progressive who doesn't have nazi tattoos.

Tom Homan’s statement on Face the Nation that “masks right now are for officer safety reasons” was an admission of the fundamental moral failing at the base of the Trump administration’s lawless actions.

If you knew what the administration is doing, it would not be sustainable.
The Trump admin argument that masks "are for officer safety reasons" is actually an admission
Tom Homan highlights how secrecy aims to block accountability, the immoral lawlessness at the core of the Trump administration. And, for paid subscribers: Closing my tabs.

If I were a Democrat concerned about winning elections and was hearing that a significant number of voters wouldn’t support Gavin Newsom in 2028, I would simply stop pushing Gavin Newsom in 2026.
look if you want to freak out about people not voting newsom if he's the nominee a week before the 2028 general election, I kinda get it (but don't say you weren't warned). doing it now though is just a weird attempt to strong arm people into supporting him in the primary.
I think most (not all) of the "I will never vote for Gavin Newsom" people are communists who are mad that Americans don't like communism and want to destroy the Democratic party out of revenge. They don't care how many elections Republicans win or how many trans people die as long as the Dems fall.
