I will block accounts that are fundraising only.
"Guys doing your job is liberal if you think about it" is some top tier brain rot.
This is why I don’t trust the "Never Trump" Bulwark guys. They’re perfectly comfortable with real people being harmed, so long as the harm comes via a process they can label “liberal democracy.”

ICE raids appear to be 100% responsible for the current housing crunch in south Texas. Indeed, they have brought residential construction to an end.
South Texas homebuilders say ICE arrests have slowed work
More than 380 people attended an impromptu meeting that industry leaders in the Rio Grande Valley hosted to draw attention to the chilling effect ICE arrests have had on construction.

If you were Nick Fuentes coming up with a mean-spirited and bigoted “satirical” character to mock and belittle Jews or to discredit complaints about antisemitism you would wind up with something very like Eve Barlow, who said it was a “pogrom” to be called Eve Fartlow
What these people are doing to the power of calling out real antisemitism, in an incredibly dangerous time of surging global antisemitism….man, it is just so worrisome

This is perfect. The DOJ's embarrassing snafu with disappearing redactions was the fault of Elon Musk. Musk cancelled government subscriptions to Adobe programs that would have made the redactions permanent. What a pack of fools.

Considering my entire job consists of un-fucking situations when dipshits like this push "imperfect" code out and everything breaks (which is happening right now to me!) ry walker here can to fuck himself with a pine cone.
Can't wait for the loosened up, non-perfect, but quickly shipped AI-enhanced updates to hit my banking and insurance services next year.

Im sure there will be no issues there at all.

I think the ICE agents work hard and deserve a nice little Kavanaugh Snack, as a treat
ICE detain father shopping on Christmas Eve—then steal his family's groceries.

Then 3 agents divvy up his paid for food—taking what they want for themselves.

"Can I just get the wife's number to call and let her know?" woman asks.

"No, guess he should've complied," agent says.

Yeah, no thanks.

Stop guilting people about being estranged from family members. It someone is they likely have personal reasons for being so.

Been frustrated - as we all have - with this court, but this seems like a pretty remarkable ruling.

I rather suspect the court does not rule this way without the collapsing approval numbers, without No Kings, without the Dems sweeping special elections.
NEW: By a 6-3 vote, the Supreme Court blocks Trump’s deployment of the National Guard to Chicago to assist immigration agents. A majority holds that he likely lacks authority to do so. Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch dissent. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...

Thrift, thrift, Horatio. The funeral baked meats
Did coldly furnish forth the marriage tables.

to add to the Jake Paul schadenfreude, Andrew Tate also lost a fight to some reality TV influencer. most analysis of the fight I've read described his opponent as deeply untalented but Andrew lost anyway. Tate's endurance was awful and he was gassed after the first round.

This is an excellent essay on the tension between something that was deeply personal and loved as a child and the greater world reality of the creator's harm on the world and having to balance the two.

Meanwhile four government agents who are members of the Delta Green conspiracy sigh and fly back home, hoping to forget what just happened and hoping their kids don't text them this picture to open fresh wounds.
Okay, this is bonkers, but also the video (in @twigtechnology.bsky.social's second skeet) looks like the flash reveal you'd get half an hour into a monster/alien movie.

Absolute wow. 🧪
I’m struggling to believe this NASA-published photo of red sprite lightning in France is real, but it seems to be so.

Red sprites can appear very briefly above thunderstorms, exciting high atmospheric gases to produce vivid colour and form. Who needs aliens? 🧪⚡️🛸

Oh okay so this is why he did his little shitstorm last night on TV
“Jack Smith tells Congress he could prove Trump engaged in a ‘CRIMINAL SCHEME’ To overturn the 2020 election.”

In case you’re wondering why Republicans insisted on keeping his testimony behind closed doors.🤔🚪

My take on Trump's address tonight is that he's always won in the past by staying on the attack and refusing to apologise. He didn't defend himself: he proclaimed reality, ignored all arguments to the contrary, and went back to throwing punches.

This felt defensive, weak. And maybe a little scared.

To crib from Folding Ideas, the US is basically Decentraland. Everything is for rent and the dead mall vibes compete with the scams and bots.
The U.S. is giving dying mall vibes.

I can't explain it, but you know I'm right.

a subscription to McMansion Hell is literally a dollar a month and in exchange you get some of my best and most thorough essays (the regional car dealership rococo one, the one about gray floors, this one)
for patreon i wrote about getting stranded in tomorrowland as an 8th grader, michael sorkin's classic essay "see you in disneyland" and the legacy of 1990s disneyfied architecture and urbanism today
