The Elephantine Colossus was a tourist attraction located on Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York City.

It was built in the shape of an elephant, an example of novelty architecture.

The seven story structure designed by James V. Lafferty stood above Surf Avenue and West 12th.

“There were no political or religious motivations. They were rich people who went there for fun and personal satisfaction. We are talking about people who love guns who perhaps go to shooting ranges or on safari in Africa.”

Some days I wonder if we deserve to survive as a species.

Really well-written article. When the difference between the top “earners” and the median income becomes as vast as it is today, the sale of goods and services has no impact on the valuation of the wealthiest people/businesses. So of course they don’t care about it.

again, more evidence for "everyone is 12 now" theory.

"who needs standards?" what are you, 12?

Nine months after Luka Doncic trade, Mavericks expected to fire general manager Nico Harrison Tuesday
The trade led to a strong backlash among Mavericks fans and that combined with the teams' 3-8 start this season doomed Harrison.

Good riddance to Nico Harrison, the personification of everything that’s going on. Blew up something good because he didn’t understand it and it didn’t conform to his vision of toughness. One of the clearest pictures of Everyone Is 12 Now ever produced. Untold damage to my psyche. Enjoy podcasting.

It is incredible — the blind spots you develop when you’ve never, ever been poor.
Trump claims that food stamps "puts the country in jeopardy. People that are able-bodied can do a job, they leave their job because they figure they can pick this up, it's easier."

It’s insane to treat the filibuster as the most sacrosanct.

Article 1 power of the purse, oversight, and war? Nah.

Emoluments clauses? Bribery prohibition? Meh.

Criminal law? 14A? Doesn’t count.

But maybe the Senate changes a rule it has multiple times before? Gasp! Not that. Anything but that.

Was pretty easy.

After my very expensive tires, brakes & front end work last week, I figured saving a bit doing it myself was a good plan.
