Pro tip for Canadians, a TV antenna in many cities relatively close to the border can pick up the US broadcast stations.
kinda blows my mind that every single sports fan doesn’t own a digital antenna. i get that lots of stuff is on cable but the one time purchase of an antenna has solved so many of my problems

sometimes i feel like the republican party is a big tornado that is coming to kill me. and the democratic party is the rickety shed that i'm hiding in. and i say "we should really fix this shed, because it's not doing much." and people say "what? why aren't you criticizing the tornado instead?!"

I waited a day to say this bc I respected everyone's right to vent some anger, but *remember to focus on what you can do*. Whether it's defending your community, taking action around what you've been venting about, whatever — but don't let all of your energy get captured in the social media space.

It seems crucial (and long overdue) that our national political discourse has finally shifted from an obsession with "the economy" to what actually matters: whether people can afford the basic things they need to live.

Trump is so bad at this he looks at a gay guy with "butt" in his name and can't even manage to come up with a good riff.
Trump: "We had a guy named Buttigieg. Boot-edge-edge they say is the best way. Just say two 'edges' like off the edge of a cliff — which is where they were taking us, by the way."

we didn't immediately get a single all-time folk rock ballad out of the big boat getting stuck, huge L for millennials and zoomers
Ok I had no idea the Edmund Fitzgerald was a contemporary thing for the song, this is like his Toby Keith 9/11 song but about transporting taconite pellets

Twenty-nine sailors drowned when the Edmund Fitzgerald went down in the Great Lakes' icy waters on Nov. 10, 1975. The ship was immortalized in a surprise hit 1976 folk ballad by Gordon Lightfoot.

i think the argument the cavers should’ve made/should make is “i couldn’t let people starve - we made a run thinking they would fold on aca, but trump really is that psychotic”

that’s an argument i think people could respect, but the won’t even make it

Important: Just because the Supreme Court is taking this up doesn't mean the court is going to rule that ballots can't be counted after Election Day.

In fact, if SCOTUS hadn't taken this case, that would've remained the outcome for the 5th Circuit (Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas).

i can’t quite explain it but “standing up as opposition doesn’t work” doesn’t seem like good optics for an opposition party to have

For IL people who aren’t getting an answer from Durbin’s office, some of Tammy Duckworth’s offices are answering.

Their offices are in at least some of the same buildings. Ask her offices to deliver the message to him.

Who knows how effective it’ll be, but by God, now’s the time to be annoying.

Also in case its not being mentioned in your feed, there is still a remaining vote for this and Somehow they didn't anticipate the outrage, so there's apparently some hesitation now.

If those were your senators, call them and don't stop. I will also be calling even though they arent mine
Call the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and they will connect you with your senator's office.

No matter how they voted last night, every one of them has a say in maintaining Chuck Schumer and Dick Durbin as their caucus leaders. Every one of them is accountable here.
