That Ortiz and Clase reportedly received the EXACT same dollar amount from fixers — in 2025! — as Shoeless Joe Jackson and Lefty Williams did in 1919 is … completely absurd. And another reason why player salaries have very little to do with why these gambling scandals happen.

Grateful to Paul, his team, and the site's community for shedding some light on and giving some respect to sports design. I started specializing in this niche 35 years ago—there were probably 5 people total who were there with me. RIP Uni Watch

Koufax, of course, pitched for the 1955 Dodgers, 70 years ago. Imagine Will Klein attending a World Series game in 2095 and passing along the same message.

7 years ago today I boarded a plane at JFK to fly to LA for Game 3 of the 2018 World Series. Dumped my stuff at my hotel, went to Dodger Stadium early, sat through all 18 innings / 7 hours and 20 minutes of baseball. Was up for 24 straight hours++, how can you not be romantic about baseball?? 😴

BLUE JAYS IN 3. Here I am at Toronto’s Exhibition Stadium on September 12, 1988, drinking a Labatts, eating a hot dog, and watching the home team lose to the Detroit Tigers. Chet Lemon and Fred Lynn hit home runs, a seagull excavated itself upon my right shoulder, and a good time was had by all 🇨🇦⚾️🌎
