@twostrikenoise.bsky.social Frank C. Ringo formed the inaugural Phillies battery with John Coleman. Ringo was an addict and went on a week-long bender after learning that Kansas City intended to release him in 1889. He ingested 40g of morphine, intending to commit suicide. He died as a result.
