theres so much horrible shit about the murder of renee good, but there is something deeply terrifying about the way everyone from media to politicians have erased her wife from the story. ive seen far more mention of her late husband than her wife who was sitting next to her when she was murdered

Always a good idea to turn off auto-play videos; choose what you see and what you don't.
if you do not want to watch the video, go to settings > content and media and uncheck the "autoplay videos and gifs" box right now

what this should make clear to everyone in this country is that it does not matter who you are, there's no "it could never happen to me"

you can be a white woman who drives around with stuffed animals in her car, and they will still kill you in cold blood and call you a domestic terrorist
The murdered woman's glove compartment is filled with stuffed animals.

McDonalds, Costco and others' commitment to multiple checkout lines instead of one snaking line feeding to the next-available register creates inefficiency, stokes competitive resentment, nourishes feelings of being cheated, and must end.
This place needs some Innocuous Discourse pronto. Quote this with a take that’s not political or aggressive

Princess Mononoke is my dearest favourite, with Howl's and Nausicaa close behind. Spirited Away has grown on me but not enough to catch up to those three. The character/world dynamics in Mononoke are unmatched and as a big mythology/monomyth kid seeing that trope broken did a lot for me
In honor of Hayao Miyazaki's birthday, what's your favorite Studio Ghibli film? Doesn't have to be the one you think is "the best," just the one that nestled in your heart. Mine is Howl's Moving Castle.

yep. i can identify any number of structural issues but at the end of the day the basic problem is the republican party. this has been apparent for at least 20 years. it is also an incredibly unpopular observation to make among “serious” people.
Right.

If you want a good explanation of why the American system of government worked well enough for 200 years and then suddenly stopped, it's because Republicans in Congress suddenly started letting their partisan interests COMPLETELY override their institutional interests
a lot of problems wouldn't exist if we had a congress with even an ounce of self interest

You should be embarrassed to be a member of congress and issuing anything other than impeachment resolutions. You're in the model UN. They should give you legos and a propeller hat

“many angry posts should have been naps or little packets of crackers” is deep wisdom and you don’t need to reproduce to embrace it!
one unexpected outlook change from being a dad is taking the self care people 10x more seriously when it comes to dealing with weirdly directed anger and rage (including Online). many angry posts should have been naps or little packets of crackers

This should not be shrugged aside. They have stopped with the fake 22 million illegal immigrants things and are flat out saying we want to deport 10's of millions of citizens and legal residents from "third world countries" Basically they are advocating removing 1/3 of the population on a gov site.

Defunded and still stunning, the 2025 production of Shakespeare's TWELFTH NIGHT feat. Lupita Nyong'o, Sandra Oh, and Peter Dinklage is streaming on @pbs.org until the end of the year.
Review: PBS’ TWELFTH NIGHT casts Epiphany Eve in a new light
PBS invites you to keep the season's spirit going clear through 'til Epiphany with their latest installment of Great Performances. Its fourth episode this season, and first since the government has defunded the station: William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, or What You Will. The horny, gender-bending, uneven and partly unresolved problem play is the ultimate Epiphany Feast fête, actually, as the twelfth night of Christmas (Epiphany Eve) is all about embracing the madcap and reversing roles.
