My latest audio drama, "Libromendel," has been officially released! I wrote a behind-the-scenes essay on why I made this and what went into it.

“Libromendel” — A Modern Day Retelling of Stefan Zweig - Reluctant Habits
This is the story of how a 1929 Stefan Zweig story became a vital inspiration for an epic audio drama depicting the cost of removing people from American life. (You can listen to the audio drama at th...

Three and a half weeks on the bike (and a diet with more fish and veggies) and I've shaved off three of the five pounds I gained when I quit smoking three months. Looks like I may hit my fighting weight goal by year's end if my metabolism cooperates! Woot!

Life hack: Do not check your phone when you wake up. Have that happy time where you are free of constant disappointment and anxiety and you can appreciate coffee, pets, lovers, friends, the book you are reading, and so forth. The news is now a crack pipe to hopeless depression.

It would be really weird to travel forward in time just to watch yourself experiencing the last thirty seconds of your life. You'd have to be amazingly vain, amazingly masochistic, and amazingly self-hating. But hey there's someone for everyone that nobody will even know about in a hundred years!

This is my favorite part of this cycle we've been repeating for my entire adult life: when they sit backwards on the chair for some real talk and explain that you're a fucking peasant who doesn't understand how things work.

Just watched Bernie Sanders on Maddow and in response to whether Schumer should step down from leadership, his answer was "Look Schumer is part of the Dem Establishment and if he steps down who will replace him?"

I mean... Bernie, WTF???? Take a damn stand.

The Senators who voted against fun and durable clothing.
Here are the Senators who voted to criminalize hemp products:

Yup. This is literally the only reason I remain a registered Democrat. I'm utterly disgusted with this party.
Stay and fight. From New York: if you register as an independent, you can't vote in the primary. And in a blue state like NY, primaries can be more decisive than general elections. And in general elections, you can vote on the Working Families Party line and signal the Dems you're a progressive.
Right, the answer isn't to abandon the party to these weasels.

The answer is to flood the party with people who will take it over and transform it.

I hate being in alignment with Rand Paul on two points: (1) his vote against cloture last night and (2) the hemp thing. What incredibly deranged times we live in.

Rand Paul, hemp's strongest soldier in the Senate, told Politico last night that he still plans to try to drag out the shutdown for as long as possible over its de facto ban of THC (which he first signaled he'd do early last week in a convo with hemp trade groups.)

The shutdown deal includes a ban on hemp products that none of its negotiators debated in public.

Disappointing that only 24 senators voted against killing an amendment to strike that ban.

Are you fucking kidding me?
More than 15 Senate Democrats join GOP to advance nationwide ban on hemp products, including CBD gummies,
oh the paul amendment is going down 78-22

Every single person in Little Village fighting ICE/BP this week, each one of those people had more courage than the entire party leadership put together. Every single person in the street resisting in LA, Portland, Chicago, they're ALL showing more backbone than useless top tiers of Dem apparatus
I keep seeing regular Americans taking more risks every day to fight tyranny, want, and cynicism than I see from the opposition party, and I imagine many of those regular Americans are asking themselves what the value proposition of such an opposition party is, really

A brilliant strategy for Zohran to send a fundraising email out tonight for the transition, knowing very well that many of us will never donate to the Democrats again until Schumer is kicked to the curb. 🤣🤣

Alright, I have calmed down, but I have attempted to describe the "five alarm empathy fire," the boiling rage I had for Chuck Schumer, the corporate Democrats, and those who stumped for the in the below video. Jesus, this monster is so awful.

900 page script wacked down to 808 pages. Can I get it under 800 when I know I have at least forty more pages to write at the end? I have been ruthless, but not ruthless enough. I may just count my blessings if it stays under 850.

It is much tighter, however, and it will be fun to record!

86 days off cigarettes! I can't believe it! I was a fucking hardcore Smeagolesque smoker. But nicotine was a fiend! Not a friend! I feel happier, smarter, and can run and sing much better (at least a half octave more on the latter)! This, and exercise and more fish and veggies! Quit! You can do it!

Shaheen: "We kept Senator Schumer informed throughout bipartisan discussions that have really gone on since the beginning of the shutdown."
November 10, 2025 at 2:23 PM
Jeanne Shaheen appeared on FOX & FRIENDS (!) this morning and said that the eight Democrats were constantly in touch with Schumer. Do mot believe for a second that this was not orchestrated. What despicable bullshit to play with human lives like this! A stunning display of craven opportunism.
