We've just launched the first large, site-less (home, direct to participant) randomized trial for treatment of #LongCovid, testing tirzepatide (a GLP-1 drug) vs placebo. Please help spread the word

Naur (1985) was right about the theory building view of programming. So, by definition, vibe coded programs are dead on arrival: no one possesses the theory of the program. The programmer needs to revive the program with each generated chunk of code or forever be codependent with the LLM.

GenAI is basically the microwave oven of writing. Sure it can heat up some leftovers but no one is going to a microwave restaurant and your kids will grow up and make fun of you for how much you relied on it to make bland ass food
There are a lot of critiques of LLMs that I agree with but "they suck and aren't useful" doesn't really hold water.

I understand people not using them because of social, economic, and environmental concerns. And I also understand people using them because they can be very useful.

Thoughts?

great HN comment on why vibe coding is not like programming in a higher level language: “Once you learned the higher level language the machine did precisely what you specified and you did not have to inspect the assembly language to make sure it was compliant.”

Please stop sharing "acceptable ways" to use Synthetic Users as a stand in for research. There aren't any.

It's a very convincing simulation of behavior based on a large random unstructured data set containing what has been written about human behavior, not analysis of actual behavior in context.

You mean the judge’s intense occult training through D&D did *not* prepare the judge to accept the invitation to enter a witches’ coven? Hmph.
Haven't seen this reported anywhere but a judge overseeing Florida's attempt to age gate all social media pointed to the failure of D&D to make him worship Satan as a kid to suggest the state needs actual evidence, and not just vibes about a social media moral panic. www.techdirt.com/2025/03/11/j...

I'd like to see more writing on how the Musk/Trump junta feels like a frontal attack on the entire concept of virtue, in even the most traditional senses.

They are actively demonizing and punishing everyone who doesn't worship Mammon.
