A country secure in its self image and conceptualization as the "only Jewish state" would not be initiating a diplomatic spat of its own accord with the mayor of New York City over the decision to revoke a useless definition of antisemitism which does not actually work in stifling dissent anyway.

Not really discussed that often but one of the secondary & tertiary reasons Israel's public image has so rapidly declined among the youth in countries like the US, UK and Germany is because of behavior like this.
